Chapter 103
Damien’s Pov
A day had passed, with tension in the kingdom. Freda had not been found, and neither had I had any sleep. Did Freda leave me? Has my people ganged up against me and I was slacking?
Not making food available yesterday, was it enough to pressure them? Was it time to start the threat and not take it easy with anyone? This would lead to a lot of deaths if I began, my rage wouldn’t be
controlled when I got to the stage.
A knock on the chamber, but I lay on the bed, wrapping myself in Freda’s scent, missing out on our last moment together. How she wanted me so bad. The words age mentioned, was it her way of saying bye? Did she execute an escape?
She wouldn’t have done it alone. Freda never walked around the castle to know the important escape route nor did she have guards who would agree to execute this for her.
Someone who had their way around things must have helped her.
The knock came again, this time harsher as Winston struggled to

come in with the guards holding him back. With a wave of my hand, I
signaled to the guards to let him go, and they did.
“My daughter has been missing for a day, Vampire King!” He bellowed.
“I also seek for her Winston. Do not take it like I do not wish to find her” My voice was low, tired of screaming at everyone since the
coronation.
“You must have said something to her or your evil people must have
done something…”
“Nothing will happen to Freda. No one dares hurt her or they will see
my wrath.”
“But she would have been dead already before your wrath is…”
“Anyone that hurt Freda has an eternal punishment from me, from generation to generation, they are bound under my sentence!”
“It is not enough to keep her safe! You brag about her being your mate…is this the depth of your love?”
“Alpha Winston!”
“Freda must be found, Damien! As a matter of fact, we have

had never seen you break down.”
“I didn’t break down”
“Lady Elara said you shed a tear.”
‘She must have seen wrong.”
You really do love Freda, don’t you?”
“That shouldn’t be a question, Uncle Kieran‘ I exhaled loudly as silence deepened between us. ‘I didn’t tell you about King Draken” I whispered. “Guards saw him dead after he poisoned himself with
Vampire Bane.”
Kieran seemed struck but his countenance didn’t last. He hissed his teeth, nodding his head too. “Who else knows about this?”
“Lady Elara and some guards. I was hoping to conduct his burial with Steve after coronation, till yesterday happened.”
“Let the secret remain till Freda is found. The news will shake the kingdom and they will think you are bad luck as a lot of things gas been happening since your temporary reign.”
‘Let them think whatever they wish. The only reason I am not

revealing his death is because of strategic political decisions” I veered
my nose.
“The wolf pack is howling at your throne room with the nobles. It’s quite early, but they are not taking it easy with the Freda news,
Winston especially.”
“Why do they show their fake remorse now that she is missing? If I wasn’t so worried about Freda, they should have been locked up for making life a living hell for my mate in the first place.”
“Have you reached out to courtiers at the border for any information?” He asked, walking down the passage with me with his head down, causing me to wonder if he was worried about Freda or
his brother…or none.
“I have, even when I highly doubt Freda would leave this kingdom or anyone would dare cross the borders without a permit”
Vampires had supernatural restrictions to cross the border if they hadn’t been imprinted by the royals as a permit so no one dared. However, Freda wasn’t part of us yet and could leave, but she barely knew her way around the kingdom nor have an idea where the border was located. It would be very hard for her to leave without a map.
‘The castle feels empty without you, Freda.‘ I heard my demon say and

my heart sank for no reason. Who knew a woman could have so much effect on me that I was almost losing my mind?
This wasn’t about being king anymore, Freda was enough if she was
by my side. I needed to explain to her that I only meant well and I wanted to give her a great life so she could trust my decisions.
