“You have to at least untie me,” I said to Verestina but she didn’t seem
to be interested in me. Her father had been gone for a while, and I was beginning to panic that something had gone wrong.
“If something happens to my father, believe my words, this is the last of sunrise you would ever see,” she said pointing her finger at me. I went silent thinking of something I could say in response to that but
nothing came out.
Since the sun rose, Verestina had not stopped pacing around, she had been either tapping her loud heel on the floor or biting the structure out of her fingernails. I had tried to converse with her multiple times and I have been shunned those multiple times that I gave up.
Sitting with my hands and feet still tied was uncomfortable, dried blood covered my skin and it was beginning to itch and smell. I closed my eyes trying not to put an image of what was probably happening back at the castle, Kara must be scared out of her mind.
“But,” there was a pause from Verestina before she spoke again why did you stay this long?” She asked me and I frowned,

“I don’t understand your question Verestina,” I said fully
understanding her question, she rolled her eyes and still acted
confused.
“If you did not want to be queen why did you wait till coronation day to escape, you could have done that a long time ago…. don’t answer that I already know the answer,” she said and my frown deepened.
“What is t-”
“If you want to leave here with the rest of your teeth I suggest you remain quiet,” she said suddenly switching, what was wrong with her? It was like she was a different person from the one asking me a question, I was not ready to have my teeth removed so I remained
quiet.
I don’t know how many hours had passed but I knew the day was not getting brighter, if I was back at the castle Christie would have brought me something cold to drink, I was parched and hungry but I remained quiet, it was not like Verestina would do anything to solve that, she was not in the room with me but left Duncan, one of the vampires that had toughened me up.
“Duncan” I called his game gently and I got no response.

address and let Duncan drop her at the borders,” Verestina said and
her father nodded, it was so obvious that she had the upper hand
when it came to controlling her father, he was very submissive to her
and it was a little weird to me.
“Your father said once you got to the border finding your mother would be easy for you if you followed the instructions on the paper well,” he said handing me a paper and I stared at him hoping he felt foolish for what he was doing.
“You don’t want to leave anymore?” Verestina asked and I rolled my
eyes.
“I am tied, how am I supposed to receive the piece of paper?” I said and Verestina turned to her father before turning back to hit me
across the face.
“I think we should just kill her and have her Father think she made it,” Verestina said and I shook my head frantically.
“I’m sorry please don’t” I pleaded and Lord Balen sighed,
“Call Duncan and have him move her to where the horses are kept, they shall ride on bare horses and hopefully she falls off of one, give this to Duncan, and tell him to only hand it to her when they get to the borders and let him set her loose and return to the castle,” Lord

Balen said Verestina walked out of the room.
“Just know if for any reason you come back I will have you killed at
first sight,” he said to me sternly before Verestina and Duncan walked
- in.
I was carried and placed on a horse with my belly, a very uncomfortable position as Duncan sat In Front of me on the same horse as we rode towards the borders where a new life awaited me, a new journey, I never once thought of how my mother will see me, I could not bare to go to her looking all bloody, I hope I find a place to clean up before I see her, a smile plastered on my face I was so
excited to start afresh.
