Damien’s pov
“When you said hideout I wasn’t expecting something so fancy,” Elara
said as I signaled for a guard to roll down the gates. She wasn’t being
straight because there was nothing fancy about where we were. It was
just bricks and huge pillars, the bed wasn’t even an actual bed, it was
bunched up grass that had dried up from the last time I used it as a
hideout.
“Yeah I know, well I am king so I expect nothing but the fanciest spot
I replied dryly and she could tell I wasn’t in the best bit of humoring
her. Her sigh was loud as she took a seat on the hard stone on the
floor, I removed my sword and threw it on the grass bed, and took a
seat, it was just one in the room and I was the only one that used it
while the rest slept on the floor, luckily it was warm in here or else we
would have frozen out butts off.
“Can’t believe I can’t wait to be done with this war, I used to enjoy
war, I loved the games, the blood, the adrenaline, the rush, I enjoyed
it all but now, I just want this fight over with so I can focus properly
on finding Freda?” I said to no particular person but Elara sought it as
I was speaking directly to her and took it upon herself to reassure me
about Freda.

I was pretty sure she wasn’t feeling any ounce of guilt for making me
fight instead of finding my mate and it made me angry but an oath is
an oath.
“Freda is fine, and you’d see her, I know you miss h-”
“You don’t know anything Elara, you don’t!” I said, she was beginning
to piss me off and I didn’t even know why but I wasn’t ready to listen
to any talk about Freda from her.
“Look, I know you are mad at me but we had a deal Damien, which
was long overdue so don’t blame me for choosing this. I’ve been
haunted several times because of this battle, I want this over and
done with as well, I don’t even want to be here trust me but this has
to be done! Freda going missing at this time was not a good thing but
this war is happening, we are going to fight and you’d go to war and
unleash your anger at everyone that comes your way, slit their throats
open, and spill their blood to the ground and let it show us the way to
find the reason for your anger..” she still spoke but I stared at her like
she was uttering series of rubbish when she had said slit their throat I
frowned, because I wasn’t just going to slit their throat, I was going
to gouge their eyes out, drain their blood, do whatever I can with
them to gather enough strength for what’s important.
I didn’t realize I had blocked Elara’s words out of my head as my mind
drifted far away from the hideout but so close to the castle, I began
wondering if she was back at the castle. I should be there waiting for

her, I thought to myself, I thought a lot of things and was thinking
more things until I felt Elara’s hand on my knee, she was looking at
me weirdly and I realized then that I had zoned out.
“What?” I asked, staring at her with a frown on my face.
“I was asking you a question” she replied, removing her hand from my
knee.
“What was it?” I asked.
“I said, would you like to have something to eat while I tell you about
my plans to infiltrate Kyraxx” Oh.
“I can’t eat, not until I find Freda” I responded, it was the truth, my
stomach had closed up, and nothing was passing through and settling
except water and blood.
“You have to eat something or else you’d die out there and nobody
would find Freda. Nobody but you actually cares about Freda, so if
you die in the battleground trust me there would be no more Freda”
That woke me up immediately because she wasn’t lying, nobody but I
cared about Freda, the rest that did have no power, slowly I nodded
my head.
“Bring it while we talk, I want to know everything about Kyraxx,” I

said, feeling ready for battle already. Elara smiled and signaled to the
guard that was at the far end of the hideout to bring the meat he was
cooking on a stone slab.
“Kyraxx is a large kingdom, the king might be strong but he has a
weakness and that’s pretty women. I was once just a visitor of the
kingdom until he took a keen eye to me, he also loved to share,
Edwago loved to share his women” I heard her say and my eye stung,
there was no way I could ever share Freda, I did it in the past with
other women but there was no way I was doing that now, not with my
Freda.
“Anyways so uhh, a lot happened, we had an affair, I wouldn’t call it
an affair seeing as his queen knew, she was also as dirty as he was,
but I knew he liked me. I was very pleased with his eyes and I want to
believe we could use that to our advantage to get to him..”
It wasn’t clear what she was talking about so I listened closely, when
the meat arrived we ate and kept talking, she told me about the king’s
other weakness, how to lure his men, she told me she was going to
use herself as bait to lure the king out, it was a bold and dangerous
move but I remained quiet because I wanted to believe Elara could
take care of herself, she was a witch and a very strong one.
