When King Damien called to tell me the news. I was excited but also terrified. There was a new life for me. As a maid of the castle, it was my duty to obey the rules of the King and Queen and every other serious royal staff. Starting this new life with Freda could only mean an upgrade for me in the castle, but I was concerned that the human world wasn’t a place for a dhampir like me.
It came to me as a surprise when King Damien said I would follow Freda to the human world to take care of her. The last time ! remembered, the human world had caused a great rift between the couple.
Did Freda suggest going back or this was solely the king’s idea?
Whatever the case may be, all I wanted was what could strengthen their bond. I didn’t want them to stay apart from each other so much that they lost their relationship. Queen Freda was a beautiful addition to the vampire kingdom and not caring what anyone thought, I wanted her to stay with the king forever.
“You have a package, whoever it is from?” Lady Agatha threw a small boxed parcel at me and I caught it on time before it entered the pot of food I cooked “When did you start receiving packages? Your patrons from the blood club still want you back, huh?”
I held the parcel closer to me. I had never received one and I had no idea who it was from.
“Open it. Is this a farewell gift from your benefactors? You need it, cause no one will take you into the human world and your corpse would probably be brought back home.”
I clung the parcel tighter to me. “Thank you, Lady Agatha, I’ll be in my room,” I said walking out of the kitchen. I had just finished cooking and cleaning the kitchen, so she couldn’t call me back for more work.
I got into my room, excitement, and curiosity all over me as I opened the parcel. It was a red, shiny dress, with sinful openings. I gasped at such a gift. Gifts like this were given to wives or fiancees.
The dress was beautiful I couldn’t stop gawking at it. Inside the parcel was a small note that read. Fair maiden, would you honor me with your presence at a fine dinner today, with the silky dress tailored perfectly to your body? Love, Elijah.”
My heart skipped when I saw that it was him that had sent it. Just whenever I thought Elijah had abandoned me, he showed up with something jaw–dropping. I had never gotten much in my life. Elijah had been the first to do a lot of things for me and I couldn’t shake off the excitement.
Elijah and I had a date and this was the most exciting thing to me.
“As much as I want to walk you through the front doors and show you off, you insisted we do this Elijah whispered.

Chapter 146
:..
When Elijah had come to pick me up for dinner, I had said we should pass the back doors because of his mother. I had permission to go out with him from the Queen, Freda. She was excited to see how things would turn out for us, but Lady Agatha had been snooping around me since evening to see what I had been up to.
‘Please, let us remain like this. It is for my safety and I want to go out with you” I said.
His eyes clouded with a bit of sadness 2hen he looked at my body. “Why did you have to wear this over the dress?”
