MATED TO THE VAMPIRE KING SON
Chapter 47
Damien’s POV
“Well?” He asked. My response took too long. I was conflicted. My father and my uncle weren’t exactly on good terms, but I still didn’t know how he would take this news. Would he understand? Or would this cause a rift between us?
“Fuck it, I muttered quietly. I was the King now and if he didn’t like what I did, then so be it.
“Uncle Kieran, I imprisoned my father,” I said with a firm tone.
We stood in silence as Kieran’s blank gaze held mine.
“And what about your twin? Steve?” He finally spoke.

*Steve is dead. I killed him,” I said without hesitation as I watched his expression closely. For a while, Kieran didn’t move. Then, to my utter surprise, a booming laugh escaped his lips. I was shocked–this wasn’t the reaction I was expecting. But it was better than no reaction.
“Dead?” He wheezed as a tear escaped his right eye. “You, Damien, taking the throne, imprisoning your father and killing your brother? You sly dog! I never knew you had it in you!”
“Uncle… Kieran?” I said with shock washing over me as I saw his reaction. “You’re okay with this?”
He walked up to me with a grin and clapped me on the shoulder. “More than okay, nephew. I never really liked those two. Between you and them, you were always my favorite.”
My lips stretched in a smirk. I had forgotten how unpredictable this man could be.
‘Later, you’ll tell me what led you to take such drastic measures. For now, I’m hungry,” Kieran yawned and he made his way towards the royal kitchen.
I stood behind for a second, contemplating whether I should tell him I had a mate and she was a hybrid. So far, no one was pleased by this news and my authority as king was the only thing keeping Freda safe for now.
“Hey Damien, you coming or what?” Kieran called out.
‘Coming,” I replied, walking towards him. I decided he won’t know about Freda, at least not now. Everything would be revealed on the day of the coronation. Until then, I didn’t want him to know. And if he did before then, so be it.

goodnight and let out a wide yawn. My bones creaked as I stretched them and my eyelids were drooping. It was time to sleep.
I walked through the empty hallways and reached the doorway to my chambers in record time. I found the two guards I had stationed there still faithfully at their posts. They snapped to attention and bowed as I approached.
“At ease,” I instructed. “Has she attempted to leave her room this evening?”
“No, Your Majesty,” the first guard responded. “She has not attempted to leave.”
“Several times, Your Majesty,” the other guard interjected, causing the first one to glare at him.
“Several times?” I asked.
“Indeed. She approached the door on three separate occasions, each time testing the handle but did not attempt to force it open.”
“Alright. Anyone tried to enter the room?”

“Only the maid, Your Majesty. She delivered her dinner and she spent quite some time with her inside,” the second guard replied.
“Alright. You may both stand down for the night,” I nodded and waved them off. They bowed and left my chambers and with a tired sigh, I pushed the door open.
