Chapter 70
Freda’s POV
My hands trembled and grew clammy as I made my way down to the dining room. I thought of what had happened earlier and wondered
what would have happened if Christie hadn’t interrupted us with
dinner.
When he’d come to scold me about my friendship with Christie, I’d lost my temper and hadn’t even realized I’d left the bathroom naked. Somehow, somewhere at the back of my mind, I loved the way he’d stared at me, at my body like it was the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen. The feel of his soft lips casually caressing the tip of my nose. How his hand had cupped my jaw, holding it in place so I couldn’t
look elsewhere but at him.
My thoughts ran wild as I almost missed my footing.
“Damn,” I muttered as I regained composure, pushing away my wayward thoughts as I made my way to the dining area. I could hear his uncle speaking loudly and frowned. He was one loud
conversationalist.
Damien’s eyes found mine as I entered the dining room. They didn’t leave my face as I made my way to my seat. Normally I’d sit next to

him, but today I decided to sit opposite him so I could stare at him as
much as I wanted.
“Hello, Uncle Kieran,” I said before taking my seat. He smiled at me.
Apparently, Damien didn’t like that because he frowned. I wondered
whether it was because his uncle had smiled at me or because I’d
refused to sit beside him. Either way, I didn’t mind.
“You look lovely this evening,” Uncle Kieran said.
I looked down at my dress. I knew I looked nice because I’d taken my time finding something right for dinner. I’d pulled my hair up in a bun, baring my neck. The small chain I wore had a pendant that dropped low, resting between my cleavage. It wasn’t much, but it was evident I’d put in effort. I’d never been one for makeup or fashion, but
I wanted to show Damien I could be beautiful with clothes and
without.
“Why, thank you. You don’t look bad yourself.” I offered one of my
sweet smiles.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Damien watching his uncle.
“Why are you seated so far from me?” Damien asked.

I turned to face him. He had a hooded expression that clearly showed
his desire for me. I forced myself to swallow as I met his gaze.
“This seat is my choice. I want to eat like this.” It took everything I
had to draw my eyes away from his. It had felt like he’d trapped me in
his stare.
“The desire burning between you two reminds me of my younger
self
last century. Ah, I used to be wild chased after everything in a skirt,”
Uncle Kieran said. He had a glint of mischief in his eyes that told me
he’d never stopped chasing.
Trolleys were rolled toward me as my dinner was placed in front of me. I looked at the maid, hoping it was Christie, but it wasn’t. I
frowned.
“Where is Christie?”
“In the kitchen, Your Highness. Madam Agatha gave her another
task.”
“Alright.” The maid nodded briefly before leaving.
“What is it?” Damien asked.
I shook my head. Apparently, he hadn’t heard what I’d asked the

maid, and it was better that way.
“Nothing. Uncle Kieran, you sound adventurous.”
I tried to drive the conversation elsewhere. I could tell Damien’s
uncle was fishing for conversation, so I gave him something to talk
about while I ate.
“My first intimate encounter was with one of my father’s many
concubines. Oh, what was her name? Something flowery. Flora?
Rosa?” He racked his brain trying to remember.
The taste of the food refused to register on my tongue as I tried not
to squirm, remembering Damien’s hands gripping my thighs. They
were the same hands holding cutlery so elegantly as if they hadn’t
found their way up my thighs. I could feel my underwear grow damp,
and I clenched my thighs together.
“Aha! It was Lillian, as in the flower lily. She was beautiful and an
expert in doing what she was told. I remember one time she’d just
finished pleasuring my father and she snuck her way up to my room.
It was blissful. She was a vampire, and we both drank from each other.
Pure pleasure until we were caught. My father didn’t punish me, but the poor girl was beaten badly and sent out of the castle. Father
warned me that as royalty, I should never settle for seconds.”

He said it proudly, and I hid my face. All his talk was inappropriate
for a dining setting. I’d been hoping Damien would tell him to be
quiet, but he didn’t. I regretted pushing him to talk because now I
couldn’t stop thinking about how it would feel to have Damien inside
- me.
I looked up to stare at him and caught him staring at me too. This
time I didn’t take my eyes off him. I stared even deeper as my mind
reeled until I came to a decision.
There was no way I was going to run away from here without ever
having tasted Damien. I was ready to give in to all the pleasure his
eyes promised. I was ready to bare my soul. I was ready for him to
consume me. And once we got back upstairs, I was going to let him
have me.
