Damien’s Pov
Lady Elara’s witchy laugh echoed in the throne room. I saw why she
hardly laughed, it was a horrible sound. I arched my brows when her
head fell to the back as she tried to take in air after her laugh.
“That was funny.” She said after recovering. “But it is almost over and
now you can focus on our oath.”
I nodded. “That would be the first thing on my list the moment I am
crowned. You have been patient enough, trust me the kingdom of
Kyraxx will be destroyed.”
As we spoke, several turbulent footsteps rushed over to the throne
room. “King Damien” they all chorused with raggedy breaths.
“What is it?” My brows furrowed and I gripped the throne chair
tighter.
“The King…” one said.
“What king?” My fist clenched.

“King Draken. Your father.”
“What has he done?”
“The King is dead. King Draken is dead” I jumped up from my chair, I
didn’t know if it was from fear or shock.
“What do you mean?” I walked towards the guard whose terrified face
bent. “Draken cannot die mysteriously”
“He was poisoned, My King. We found the Vampire Bane in his food.
Not only that…”
“…Draken can cause plants to thrive” Lady Elara cut in.
“Yes, Lady Elara” The guard proceeded. “We found a little plant bane
growing at the corner of the dungeon”
For some reason, I didn’t know how to process the news. “Show me,” I
said as I followed the guard. Lady Elara followed me behind as the
guard took us toward the North wing where the sick bay existed.
I entered the dark room with only a little of the evening sunlight
coming through the window, shining in my father’s face. He was laid flat on the bed, looking wireless, his pale face whiter than snow.

I moved forward, placing my hand on his chest to feel his heartbeat
but there was none. Lady Elara moved forward also, her eyes closed as
she placed her hand above him, using magic. After some while she
nodded negatively.
“He’s lifeless.” She said,
Who would have thought my father would be oppressed into
committing suicide?
“The people would not like this news” I tapped my feet.” Especially
before my coronation. Rumors would spread.
“What are we to do then with the body?” The guard asked.
“The body remains here till the coronation is over. The
announcement will be made by me and burial will commence after.”
“We would be burying the king and Steve then,” Lady Elara subtly
said.
“No one else should know about this for now. The house is enormous
and this news would bring more chaos.”
“Yes, Your Highness.”

I dashed out of the room, pacing the passage. “Damien” Elara laced
her hand on my shoulders but I flung it. A growl was building inside
of me.
“He couldn’t choose a better time.” I slammed my hand on the wall.
“He would do anything to make a scene and stop this from
happening.”
“Damien. There is no need to get worked up about this”
“Oh, there is, Elara. I should have killed him when I had the chance.
He would have been an old story.”
“Well at least, his death is not your fault now.”
“It still is. I locked him into frustration. He should have died the
death he had killed others, with the sword of his hand.”
“This shouldn’t ruin your mood. The kingdom is in high spirits,
whatever you do now will affect them.” My King, perhaps you should
take a break. It is getting dark, your mate might be of help.”
Elara walked out of my sight with a slight bow. She was right. I was
worrying too much. I shouldn’t let this shake me or rather let this
news get out to my people.

They needed to trust me as their new king. Whatever they felt
knowing the king’s death after my coronation would not concern me
anymore. What I owed them was a grand burial for Draken and Steve.
I strode into my chamber, opening the door to see Freda reading one
of her books. When her gaze met mine, she jumped off immediately, a
frown settling on her brows
“Is anything the matter?” She asked.
“King Draken is dead,” I informed, pulling off my shirt. “Such bad
timing. Why should it be on coronation eve?”
“Calm down, Damien”
“I am calm!” I let out and she moved back, startled. “I am sorry” I
responded, revealing my deeper emotions. “These past few weeks
have been a lot, Freda.”
“I know you’ve been working hard, Damien, but it’s all gonna end
tomorrow”
“What if something bad happens and ruins all this” I questioned, my
eyes slightly brushing her cleavage. I seemed to notice she was
wearing a nice gown with a slit on the thighs and a lot of cleavage.

“Nothing bad is gonna happen.” She softly said. “And if it does, you’re
gonna handle it just fine” Her hand placed gently on my chest. “Let
me make you feel better, Damien” She wrapped her hands around my
neck and kissed me.
I was taken aback by her confidence and gesture but I wanted Freda
too and she was honest, she was the only person fit to make me feel
better.
My hand went to her back and zipped down her dress, her breasts
popping out of the right dress.
“Mm. Damien.” She kissed my neck, her hands rubbing my chest. “I hope…I don’t miss you too much” Her lips trailed my nipples when
she bent.
I didn’t understand what she meant by that, but I knew I also said stupid things when I needed sexual satisfaction. I carried her on my waist, my mouth reaching for her boobs as her head fell backward and
her moans escaped her lips.
“My mate, my queen…” I muttered.
“My mate, my king” she responded between her moans. My already
hard cock, stiffened as I placed

her on the bed eager to rip her beautiful dress to shreds to gain
access to her naked body.
