Jesse nodded. Just as she turned her head, Lyman’s voice rang out.

“If Jesse wants to watch the match, she can walk right in. She doesn’t need anyone else’s ticket.”
Every head snapped toward the classroom door.
Lyman languidly leaned against the frame. His tall frame and straight posture carried a natural nobility that drew every eye.
Taylor’s face stiffened. She gripped the ticket so hard her nails dug into her palm as she started to speak.
“Ly…”
Jesse cut in, her tone kind but pointed. “I’d watch how you call him. If the Spencer brothers hear that, they’ll hate you for it. You suck up to the Spencers on one side, then cozy up to my brother when you see what he can do. Don’t you think that kind of two–faced act is disgusting?”
Isadora’s eyes went wide.
Back then, whenever she defended Jesse and called Taylor out, Jesse would defend Taylor instead. Now, Jesse was striking back herself.
It was a glorious sight to behold.
Taylor really was a snake.
“My dear sister…”
“Stop with the ‘my dear sister‘ stuff. I’ve left the Spencer family. I’m not your sister. You might not feel embarrassed, but every time I hear it, I feel it for you.”
Isadora shot Jesse a big thumbs–up.
Jesse lifted her head. Her gaze locked onto Taylor, sharp and burning.
“I wasn’t going to waste time on that match. Still, since you’re so desperate for me to go, I’ll go.”
At first, she hadn’t wanted to. Studying mattered more. Besides, if Taylor messed up, Mike would still pin the blame on her, even though she wasn’t on the team anymore.
However, if Taylor wanted her there to watch her downfall, Jesse was glad to oblige.
Taylor felt the chill in Jesse’s stare, yet she pressed on. “I knew it. Jesse could never just forget

her brothers.”
As she spoke, she flicked a glance at Lyman.

“You…” Isadora sputtered, pointing at Taylor, lost for words.

Jesse pressed her hand down. “Forget it. She doesn’t understand plain speech. No point wasting your breath.”
Isadora let Jesse tug her toward the door, but she still muttered, “Is she dumb or what? Can’t even get the simplest things. It makes me wonder how she ever ranked top of the class. Don’t tell me she cheated or got someone else to take her exams.”
Girl, you nailed it, Jesse thought.
The competition venue buzzed with noise. The stands were packed.
Jesse held the ticket Lyman had given her and found their seats with Isadora.
They were close to the front, almost beside Mike’s team.
Isadora frowned. “This is way too close.”
The view was perfect. From here, one could see the whole arena. Still, Mike’s team rested just two rows ahead, barely five meters away.
“Yeah. That’s just my brother’s twisted sense of humor.” Jesse thought of Lyman and couldn’t stop the smile tugging at her lips.
He was cold and noble, ruthless in business. Everyone called him Mr. Houston with respect.
Still, when it came to the Spencer brothers, he loved making mischief.
Even Isadora had to laugh.
On the stage, Taylor stood in the prep zone. The other team members busied themselves with equipment checks. She alone kept scanning the stands.
At last, she spotted Jesse. A slow smile spread across her face. She leaned toward Mike and whispered, “Mike, Jesse still cares about us. She came all this way to watch.”
Mike raised his head and scanned the crowd. His eyes landed on Jesse.
He let out a cold snort, his gaze sharp with disdain. “If she thinks sucking up to me will get her back into the Spencer family, she’s dreaming.” His voice was low, but the words cut deep.
Corey, standing nearby, heard him. His brows drew tight.

It was fine for siblings to quarrel. Still, to push it this far? That was too much.
Taylor relaxed at Mike’s words. Her smile grew brighter. She turned back to Jesse, her eyes glinting with triumph. As long as she shone today, her place in the Spencer family would be safe.
The brothers didn’t need two sisters. They only needed her.
Isadora knew nothing about drones. Finance was her expertise, not technology. The whole field was foreign to her.
Still, when she overheard people saying the rival team was much weaker, worry stirred in her chest.
“If Taylor’s team wins, she’ll be even worse,” she muttered.
Jesse stayed calm. “They won’t win.”
She was here only to watch them lose.
A faint smile curved her lips. She had already spotted the problem. The same piece of equipment Taylor had ignored last time was skipped over again. Not a single person checked it. Taylor herself was too busy chatting with Mike to notice.
Jesse and Isadora spoke in low voices that were drowned in the roar of the crowd. Still, one group heard every word.
That was Mike’s own fan club, the diehard supporters seated closest to them.
