Because I quit the team.”

Oh, I seewait, what?Matthew shouted in surprise

No wonder he was shocked. Mike treated Jesse badly, making her do chores and even replacing her as an official member. He was furious about it

But Jesse always said they were family, that she owed Mike her life, so it was fine. She just kept giving in again and again

Now Jesse suddenly decided to quit the team. How could he not be shocked

He didn’t even hang up the phone before turning to the people next to him. Drop what you’re doing and go buy me some firecrackers! I’m going to set them off at the Archebot Team’s front door!”

You’re overdoing it,Jesse said with a laugh. There’s no need.”

She didn’t care anymore, so it didn’t matter

Jesse got back to the point. Whatever they ask you to fix, just take it.”

Matthew immediately understood. Got it.”

He planned to make them pay a lot this time

After all, their drone technology was Jesse’s specialty, and only the two of them knew how to repair it

The Spencer brothers still had no idea they had thrown away a gem while holding on to a worthless stone

After hanging up, Jesse bent her head again and kept writing notes, her pen moving neatly across the paper

At the same time, Taylor’s phone buzzed

Ms. Holman, I can repair the drone, but it’ll cost a lot,Matthew said over the phone

Taylor’s eyes lit up. How much?”

1.2 million,Matthew said with a cold laugh

What did you say? Why is it so expensive?Taylor’s voice shot up in shock

If you think it’s too expensive, you can find someone else,” Matthew said with a fake smile

Taylor bit her lip. She had already messed up one match. The playoff round was about to start, and if the drone wasn’t fixed, she wouldn’t even be able to compete. How would she ever fix her image in Mike’s eyes

Still, she could ask Mike to pay her back later. 1.2 million was high, but the Spencer family could afford it

Fine, I agree.”

After hanging up, she ran straight to Mike’s room and knocked. Mike!”

Mike came to open the door and saw her flushed, excited face

Before he could speak, Taylor looked up at him with a bright smile

Mike, the person I contacted agreed to fix it!”

Mike lit up with excitement. Really? That’s great!”

Yeah!Taylor nodded. And they said they’ll rush it and finish within a week!”

Overjoyed, Mike hugged her. Taylor, you’re amazing! I knew I could count on you!”

He turned, walked to his desk, picked up his phone, and asked her for the details. How much is the repair fee? I’ll transfer it to you.”

As he spoke, he still couldn’t resist insulting Jesse. Jesse really thinks she’s something, trying to act tough with me! And making bets! She’s just fixing drones. It’s not like I can’t find anyone else. Now that you found someone to replace her, Taylor, let’s see how she shows off in front of me again!”

Hearing him curse Jesse made Taylor feel good. Watching him get ready to transfer the money, she politely said, Mike, no need. I’m just happy I could help the team. Besides, we’re family. Talking about money makes it awkward.”

You’re right.” Mike looked at her sincere expression and felt warm inside. He put his phone

away

After all, Jesse had always repaired and maintained the drones without asking him for money, The Spencer family gave Taylor the same allowance as Jesse, even cutting Jesse’s at times. If Jesse could manage, Taylor could too

He didn’t notice the brief look of shock and resentment on Taylor’s face

That was 1.2 million. She had only been polite, but he really didn’t give her the money

Taylor, you’re my good little sister. You’re so much more thoughtful than some people. He grinned and stuffed his phone back in his pocket, killing her hopes completely

Taylor held back her frustration, nodded, and smiled sweetly. Mike, we’re family after all.”

She lowered her eyes, hiding the resentment in them. She blamed Mike, and she blamed Jesse

too

That fool only knows how to work herself to death, being used like a tool without ever getting anything in

return

Taylor wasn’t going to be as stupid as Jesse. She would get the money back from somewhere else

And she would get it back double

The day the drone was fixed, Taylor went to the library to find Jesse

Reading, Jesse?”

Jesse glanced up at her, then went back to her book

I came to tell you some good news.”

Taylor sat down across from her with a smug smile

I already found someone to fix the drone. It’ll be done in a week. Even without you, the team won’t miss the competition.”

Status: Ongoing

1) The Awakening

Jesse Spencer wakes to a sharp, icy voice—her brother Corey shouting. Her head spins, fever burning through her skull. Instinct takes over: the reflex of someone broken by years in prison. She drops to her knees and apologizes automatically. But the floor beneath her isn’t concrete. It’s soft—carpeted. Panic flares. She’s not in her cell. She’s back in her room, surrounded by familiar furniture she thought she’d never see again. She’s been reborn—twelve years into the past.

2) The Day That Ruined Her

Memories rush back in fragments. It’s that day—the day Taylor Holman accused her of ruining her contest project, locked her in the bathroom, and made her freeze through the night as punishment. Back then, Jesse refused to take the blame. That same night, Corey drenched her in ice water and turned off the heat, forcing her to “reflect.” Her fever had nearly killed her. While she suffered, Taylor basked in sympathy. Corey, blind with guilt, lashed out at Jesse just to see Taylor smile.

3) A Family Turned Against Her

Each brother had chosen Taylor over Jesse. Andrew, the doctor, brought medicine and comforted her gently, convinced she was in the wrong. Mike hovered over Taylor, offering warm water and towels. Kaleb, the youngest, even gave away Jesse’s hard-won spot in an international design competition—handing Taylor her future as if it meant nothing. Jesse had been branded a villain in her own home, a sinner forced to repay a debt she never owed.

4) The Debt That Wasn’t Hers

“Do you think Philip would forgive you? He died saving you!” Corey’s voice echoes again. The name pierces her chest. Philip Holman, Taylor’s brother, had died in a fire rescuing Jesse—or so everyone believed. The guilt consumed the Spencers, and they took Taylor in as family. Every day after that, they reminded Jesse: You owe her your brother. You owe her his life. Her brothers, her chances, her future—all handed to Taylor, the eternal victim.

5) The Truth Behind the Flames

But now, with her memories restored, Jesse finally knows the truth. Philip hadn’t died heroically—he had started the fire himself. He wanted to play savior, to make himself look noble in Taylor’s eyes, and Jesse was the collateral damage. Worse, Taylor had locked the door after them, intending to let the flames take them both. When the Spencers arrived, Taylor wept for the cameras, mourning her “only family,” while Jesse stumbled from the blaze branded a murderer.

6) The Accusation Reborn

Jesse’s fists tighten. Rage surges. But Corey mistakes it for defiance. “Still stubborn, huh? No apology, no school. You’ll stay grounded until you learn!” He glares, confident she’ll cave like before—especially with the design competition only three days away. Fevered and weak, Jesse still meets his eyes. “Fine,” she rasps. “I’ll apologize later. Now get out. I need to change.” Her tone chills him—cold, unfamiliar, unyielding. He leaves, thinking she’s finally obeying.

7) The Price of Survival

As soon as the door shuts, Jesse collapses. Pain sears through every bone. Her fever burns hotter; her limbs feel like lead. Somehow, she drags herself to the closet, pulling on dry clothes before sinking into bed. The warmth of the blanket breaks her. Three years in prison—three years of starvation, torture, and despair—flash through her mind. Her brothers had even paid guards to punish her for Taylor’s sake. Starved. Beaten. Forgotten. Cancer had finished what they started.

8) The Promise of Vengeance

Not this time. She won’t die quietly again. Curling into the blanket, Jesse whispers to herself, “I’ve got time. I’ll rest now. Then I’ll plan.” The warmth feels foreign, almost sinful after years of cold concrete. Her eyes close slowly. For the first time in forever, she lets herself sleep—safe, for the moment. This rebirth isn’t mercy. It’s a second chance to make them pay.

9) The Wake-Up Call

Jesse!” The roar yanks her awake. Harsh light floods the room as someone rips away the blanket. Cold air slaps her burning skin. Rough hands drag her upright—it’s Mike, furious. “You told Corey you’d apologize, and you’re sleeping? Taylor’s been defending you, and this is how you repay her? Get up!” Jesse’s stomach churns; her body convulses. She doubles over, gagging—but there’s nothing in her stomach to give. Mike sneers. “Still pretending? Think playing sick will save you?”

10) The Beginning of Payback

Her voice comes out hoarse and broken. “Let go. I can stand myself.” He does, grudgingly. His frown deepens—she’s burning up—but he dismisses it. After all, Taylor’s the one “who’s really been through hell.” He orders coldly, “Quit wasting time. Taylor’s waiting.”
Jesse steadies herself, eyes icy despite the fever. Once, she begged for their understanding. Now, she only needs their ignorance. Let them believe she’s weak. Soon enough, they’ll learn what true strength looks like. Rebirth has given her purpose—and this time, she won’t bow to anyone.
