Taylor felt a wave of panic. The last repair cost 1.2 million, and it had emptied all her savings just to cover it! Now that the drone had broken again, there was no way she could afford another repair bill so soon.

Still, she forced herself to stay calm and smiled as she nodded. “Okay, Mike. I’ll go right away.”

Mike looked at her with satisfaction before he turned toward Jesse and said, “Jesse, do you think you’re that important? Do you think you can threaten me by running away from home and even quitting the team? Look! My team runs just fine without you!”

After that, he stared at Jesse’s face, waiting to see the sadness on her face and hoping she would beg him as she admitted her mistakes and pleaded to return to the team and Spencer family.

However, Jesse’s reaction left him disappointed.

She looked at him calmly and smiled mockingly. “Is that so? Well then, I wish you good luck in the match.”

Her words were sincere. After all, with Taylor on his team, winning would be difficult enough even if she didn’t do anything at all.

Hearing her words, Mike was stunned. He hadn’t expected this reaction from her.

Then, he frowned and said grimly, “What do you mean by that?”

Jesse picked up her tray and replied coldly, “Just some good luck words. If you are going to repair the drone, then go ahead. Otherwise, you’ll blame me again when you stay here with me.”

At that, Mike was furious, but before he could say anything, she had already walked away.

He stood there, jaw tight, anger burning with nowhere to go.

The cafeteria lights cast harsh shadows across his face.

Turning, he yanked Taylor’s wrist and barked, “Who needs her anyway? I have Taylor as my sister, and that’s enough. She can repair the drone!”

His voice rang in the cafeteria, but Jesse wasn’t bothered. Before leaving, she even packed a piece of cake, clearly in good spirits.

Mike huffed angrily and dragged Taylor away. His grip was rough, leaving her wrist red.

Only then did he let go. The sight of the red marks on her skin softened his heart.

“I’m sorry, Taylor.”

“It’s nothing, Mike.” Taylor smiled sweetly. “I know that you’re just upset with her.”

She glanced at him. She didn’t want to spend her money, so she had to get Jesse back to deal with this mess. Thus, she put on a gentle expression and suggested, “Mike, maybe you should talk to Jesse…”

Still fuming, Mike huffed. “Having you as my sister is enough. I don’t need her!”

In the past, Taylor would have been thrilled when Mike said this. After all, she was finally the only sister in the Spencer family. However, all she wanted now was for Jesse to return.

“Mike…”

“You’ll piss me off if you keep speaking for her!”

Hearing his words, she pressed her lips together and lowered her head. Then, she asked timidly, “Mike, I’ve been short on money lately… Could you…”

Mike thought Taylor just needed an extra allowance. Since Corey had given him both of their sisters‘ allowances, he took out his phone to transfer money.

Initially, he was about to give Taylor 100,000. However, since he was still angry at Jesse, he erased the number and changed it to 200,000.

“She’s not my sister anymore, so you can take her money too.”

In that split second, Taylor’s heart skipped a beat, and she had to suppress her smile.

However, this still wasn’t enough to cover her losses. She wasn’t a fool like Jesse, who would quietly pay out of her own pocket for them.

Then, she lowered her head, as though she was embarrassed but troubled. “Mike… It’s still not enough.”

Hearing her words, Mike frowned. After all, 200,000 dollars was a lot, especially since she lived at home and didn’t have to pay anything. “Not enough? What for? Why isn’t that enough?”

Taylor hesitated, as if debating whether to tell the truth. After a long pause, she murmured, “Last time… The drone repair costs a lot. I used up all my savings, so I don’t think I’ll have enough money this time…”

“How much was it last time?” he asked, already pulling up his phone and ready to send her all 500,000 of his savings.

Taylor lowered her head, fingers twisting together, looking pained. She bit her lip and whispered, “Last time, it cost 1.2 million.”
