Chapter 5

Seraphina hung up, feigning nonchalance.

“A friend’s wedding.”

Caspian thought Seraphina had been acting strangely lately. He narrowed his eyes and demanded.

“Which friend of yours is getting married? How come I don’t know about it?”

Seraphina met his gaze, one eyebrow arched. “Since when have you ever cared about what’s going on in my life?”

Instantly, Caspian was left speechless.

Seeing him at a loss for words, Seraphina scoffed internally. “It’s getting late. You should get some rest.”

Normally, Caspian would have left by now, but this time he stayed.

He closed the distance between them, his hands locking around her slim waist. His tone was unreadable. “Didn’t you always want a child? I’ll make it up to you

onight.”

If this had been before, Seraphina would have been overjoyed.

She had once wanted to use a child to tie him to her.

But now, all she wanted was to get away from him as fast as possible, and she wanted nothing of him to take with her.

‘Let’s talk about this later. It’s not a good time for me today.”

Caspian felt he had already humbled himself, but Seraphina’s attitude greatly displeased him.

In his eyes, this was just her throwing another tantrum.

He released her and said coldly, “Suit yourself.”

After Caspian left, Seraphina took another shower, scrubbing every spot his hands had touched.

The next day, Seraphina went to the office.

she still had things to clear out at the company, but before she could even enter the building, she was ambushed by a crowd throwing eggs and rotten

regetables.

That’s her! Seraphina Anderson! An adopted daughter who plagiarized the real heiress’s artwork and even put her own name on it! Shameless!”

Not only that, she’s a homewrecker! Everyone knows Mr. Kingsley is going to marry Thalia, but this Seraphina follows him around every day. What is that if

lot seduction!”

I’ve got some juicy gossip! I saw Seraphina coming out of the Kingsley mansion this morning! She really is a mistress! That slut!”

You bitch! The Andersons adopted you, and this is how you repay them? By seducing their daughter’s fiancé? Let’s beat the shit out of this tramp!”

Covered in filth, Seraphina screamed, “I didn’t plagiarize anything! And I’m not a mistress!”

ust then, a video of Caspian began playing on the jumbotron of the building across the street.

‘Regarding the artwork, it is true that Seraphina plagiarized Thalia. However, I ask that you all find it in your hearts to forgive her, as this is the first time she has made such a mistake.”

In an instant, all of Seraphina’s explanations became utterly useless.

She had no way to defend herself.

Back at home, Caspian frowned upon seeing Seraphina’s disheveled state.

“How could those people be so vicious? What happened to your hand? Did someone throw acid on you?”

For the first time, Caspian’s panic was visible,

Seraphina pulled her arm back and sneered, “Isn’t this the outcome you expected?”

“You were the one who told the world that I plagiarized Thalia.”

“I spent three whole years on that painting. My love for you was my inspiration. Didn’t you feel a single shred of guilt spouting those lies on that big screen?”

“Caspian Kingsley, when you called me a plagiarist, did you feel even a hint of remorse? Doesn’t your conscience ache at all?”

Faced with her barrage of questions, Caspian’s fists clenched tighter and tighter.

He tried to placate her. “I know you’ve been wronged in this, but Thalia is the rightful heiress of the Anderson family. Her reputation can’t be tarnished by accusations of plagiarism.”

“Don’t worry, the internet will forget about it eventually. Besides, I’m here to support you. It doesn’t matter if you never earn money again.”

“Seraphina, I promise I’ll make it up to you. But right now, it’s Thalia’s awards ceremony. This is the most important moment of her life, and I can’t miss it.”

Just be good and stay home. I’ll make it up to you when I get back tonight.”

Caspian left. Seraphina collapsed to the floor, laughing through her tears.

This was the man she had loved for so many years.

Seraphina’s hands trembled as she called Spencer. “Forget about a week. I need you to come and get me. Right now.”

There wasn’t a moment’s hesitation on Spencer’s end. “Okay.”

Half an hour later.

Seraphina placed the divorce papers and her resignation letter on the dining table where they couldn’t be missed.

She took her ID and her sketchbooks from over the years.

Neither Caspian nor Thalia knew that for every finished painting, she had hundreds of preliminary drafts-and they would be the evidence that buried them.

She tossed the key to the mansion aside and left without looking back.

Outside, a helicopter was descending. Spencer emerged, silhouetted against the landing lights.

Seraphina. I’m here to take you away. Every wrong you’ve suffered, I will help you avenge, one by one.”
