Marcus wanted to keep bidding, but I frowned and grabbed his arm. “Don’t buy it for me. I really don’t like it.”

When he won the final item as well, Marcus smiled: “Mr. Pierce isn’t leaving me any chance to do charity work tonight?”
You could have bid higher too, Mr. Stone, but you didn’t. That shows you’re not willing to spend money on Jade, doesn’t it?”
After Nathan spoke, Isabella’s voice trembled with excitement: “Nathan, don’t say that. Ms. Rivers and Mr. Stone are just colleagues. Spending that much money on a secretary would be unnecessary, wouldn’t it?”
Looking at their faces, I felt remarkably calm.
All these years, Nathan had never bought me anything at auctions.
Why would I expect Marcus to buy things for me?

Hearing his words, I laughed coldly.
“Nathan, Mr. Stone and I have a professional relationship. He has no obligation to buy me things. You should ask yourself-in five years with you, how much did you ever give me?”
“Mr. Pierce, should we send all these items to your home?”
Staff members approached carrying armfuls of boxes. Isabella stared at the treasures, her eyes gleaming.

Just as the staff were about to leave, Nathan called out to stop them.
“Send all these things to Jade Rivers’ house.”
“What did you say?”
Isabella couldn’t believe her ears, staring at Nathan in shock.
“Nathan, did you misspeak? Weren’t these things bought for me?”
I was stunned too. Nathan had been so extravagant, bidding on all these items-and it was all for me?

‘I didn’t misspeak. These things were always meant for you, Jade.” Nathan stared at me, his deep eyes suddenly full of affection. Jade, stop being upset with me, okay? Can’t you see by now who really cares about you-me or Marcus?”

Even now, Nathan still thought I was just having a tantrum, still believed I’d come back to him.
Nathan, your wife is standing right there. Aren’t you afraid she’ll be angry that you’re giving me all this?”
I’m not afraid.” Nathan’s face was grim. “Come back to me, and I can pretend none of this ever happened.”

sabella was nearly hysterical. Though she’d known Nathan and I had been involved for five years, she’d always believed that once
the returned, Nathan would definitely break up with me.
