After realizing his guilt tactics wouldn’t work on me, Nathan went to a bar.
He sat alone in a corner booth, ordering several bottles of whiskey and drinking morosely.
He’d expected that hearing about his injury would bring me running, but he hadn’t anticipated how heartless I could be.
Glass after glass, he drank heavily until his stomach started to ache.
Nathan remembered how I used to forbid him from drinking.
Because alcohol always gave him stomach pain, I would drink for him at business dinners.
Growing more and more depressed, he laughed bitterly at himself.
What the hell had he been doing these past few days?
How had he managed to push away someone who loved him so much that she’d never come back?
“Jade…”
He poured himself another drink.
Through his hazy consciousness, he suddenly heard Isabella’s voice.
“Damn Nathan Pierce-after treating me like that, I’m definitely not letting him off easy!”
‘No way, Isabella. You’re pregnant and he’s still treating you badly?”
‘I told you ages ago that he’s obsessed with that Jade Rivers. You wouldn’t believe me-kept thinking he still loved you. It’s been five years! Nobody stays that devoted!”
sabella said grimly: “Forget that loser. Without Jade, his company’s lost tens of millions in projects. If this baby were actually his, I’d get an abortion immediately!”
Right! Since it’s not his kid anyway, just divorce him already.”
Hearing this, Nathan sobered up slightly.

His mind went blank. Looking at Isabella’s beautiful but terrifying face, rage exploded in his chest.

He rushed over and grabbed Isabella’s wrist with enough force to nearly crush her bones.
“Isabella, what did you just say?” His voice was unrecognizably hoarse, eyes bloodshot. “The baby you’re carrying-it’s not mine?”
Isabella hadn’t expected to see Nathan here. He was supposed to be in the hospital-how was he here?
“No, Nathan, what are you doing here? You’ve had too much to drink. Let me take you home.”
“I’m asking you whose baby that is!”
Nathan’s grip tightened. Isabella was nearly in tears from the pain.
“It’s yours! Nathan, you’re really drunk! You’re hurting me!”
“Mine? I clearly heard you say the baby isn’t mine! Isabella, you’ve been lying to me this whole time! We’re getting divorced!”
Hearing this, Isabella laughed. “Since you know now, I’ll tell you the truth. You’re right-this baby isn’t yours. But I don’t even know whose it is, because there were so many guys that night!”
Before she finished speaking, Nathan slapped her hard across the face.
You slut!”
Blood trickled from Isabella’s split lip. She looked up with a cruel smile.
