I fled Marcus’s villa like I was escaping something. The whole drive home, all I could think about was the way he’d looked at me.
Actually, I believed what he’d said, because he was different from Nathan.
When Nathan heard office gossip, he only wanted to distance himself from it, wanted me to just endure it.
But Marcus wanted to marry me.
The next morning when I arrived at the office, I saw a crowd of employees huddled together, apparently discussing something.
Seeing me, they all rushed over.
“Secretary Rivers, you’re so lucky!”
“Yeah, I’m so jealous! Someone’s proposing to you with such a huge hot air balloon!”
“Proposing?”
I followed their pointing fingers to the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Outside in the sky, a massive hot air balloon floated with words written on it: “Jade Rivers, Marry Me!”

I frowned. I hadn’t expected Marcus to move so fast.
“Secretary Rivers, someone’s calling for you downstairs! Looks like they want to propose!”
Someone rushed over and pulled me into the elevator.
‘Let’s go see! Secretary Rivers is getting married!”
When I reached the ground floor, I saw the setup.
Roses arranged in a heart shape on the ground, and a man in a black suit holding a diamond ring, standing in the center.
I looked up and saw it was Nathan.
‘Nathan?”
Jade, I promised I’d marry you when you turned thirty. Will you marry me?”
He knelt on one knee. People started gathering and cheering.
‘Marry him! Marry him!”
Looking at the man in front of me, I frowned deeply.
“Nathan, haven’t you had enough? Wasn’t I clear enough last time? I don’t love you anymore, and I could never marry you!”
“Jade, I know you don’t mean that. I’ve already divorced Isabella. She was arrested by the police-she’ll never bother us again!”
