“Ethan!” Victoria finally couldn’t take it anymore and grabbed his arm. “We’ve been flying for so long already-can’t we just rest for a
bit?”
“I told you, if you need rest, stay behind.” Ethan shook off her hand and strode toward the tarmac. “I don’t have time to waste.”
Victoria stood there as tears welled up in her eyes.
She’d never seen Ethan like this-obsessed, manic, with eyes only for that woman named Claire.
Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands… They chased Claire’s trail like phantoms across half of Europe. Everywhere they went, they got the same answer: “Ms. Morrison just left.”
A week later, when they learned Claire had gone to the Maldives, Ethan wanted to leave immediately. And Victoria finally broke
down.
“Enough!” she grabbed Ethan’s wrist. “Stop looking for her! She’s obviously on some world tour-whatever you need to say to her, can’t it wait until she’s done traveling?”
Ethan just coldly pulled his hand free: “I can’t wait that long.”
“Why?” Victoria’s voice shook. “Isn’t she just like a sister to you? Why do you have to see her right now?”
“If she’s going to travel the world, she can do it with me,” Ethan said, as if he hadn’t heard her question. “Why did she abandon me and go alone?”
Victoria was stunned.
She could hear the intense possessiveness in Ethan’s words-an emotion she’d never felt from him before.
Even in their most intimate moments, Ethan had never shown this kind of obsessive devotion.
So Victoria completely fell apart: “You want to travel the world with her? What about me? What am I to you?!”
Ethan frowned and pushed her hand away: “Don’t be dramatic.”
“Dramatic?!” Victoria’s voice shot up. “Ethan Blackwood, look me in the eye and tell me-since the day you found out Claire left, have
you thought about me even once?!”
Watching the minutes tick by, Ethan checked his watch, clearly getting agitated: “Victoria, we can talk about this when we get back. If we wait any longer, she’ll move somewhere else again.”
“Go back?” Victoria laughed bitterly. “Are you ever going back? You look like you’d tear the whole planet apart to find her!”
Ethan was quiet for a moment, then suddenly said: “Yes. I will find her.”
Victoria felt like she’d been struck by lightning, staggering backward: “Why? Isn’t she just your assistant? Didn’t you say she was like a sister who grew up with you…”
“Enough!” Ethan cut her off sharply. “I don’t have time to explain this to you.”
“Fine,” Victoria took a deep breath. “I’m giving you one last chance-either come back with me right now and we pretend none of this happened, or you go find her and we break up! It’s over between us!”

Ethan froze, staring at her for three seconds before answering without hesitation: “Then we break up.”
“What did you just say?! Victoria’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“Didn’t you ask me to choose?” Ethan was getting impatient. “I choose the second option. We break up. I told you, I don’t have time right now-It I’m late, she’ll be gone again.”
