Chapter 450 First Success
Two days later.
The Sarratt team bid a very frustrated farewell, expressing their apologies for the “disturbance.
As soon as Alice Spencer saw them off, she immediately ordered the mining to begin.
For this, the Nolans were already experienced; the site operated around the clock, never stopping for a moment.
Eric Nolan, meanwhile, coordi ted with the Sarratts.
Feeling ashamed that their dispatched technicians hadn’t been helpful, the Sarratts offered to purchase the mine as a gesture of apology.
Eric agreed to this immediately, acting as if he had been looking for a way to offload the mine
anyway.
i
However, when it came to the price, he asked for the on–essentially demanding nearly all of the Sarratts‘ liquid capital.
Initially, the Sarratts were reluctant, but considering the mine’s potential value, they deliberated for only a single day before agreeing.
Eric had expected them to haggle and had already prepared a bottom price in his mind.
He hadn’t expected things to go so smoothly.
Simultaneously, Alice had successfully developed a counter–agent.
Once sprayed onto the mine, this substance would render the rare metals inactive.
They didn’t have the time to research these elements properly right now, so they chose to “scal” them first.
If they needed them in the future, they could use another chemical agent to unseal them.
Within a single day, the Nolan staff withdrew from the mine, and the Sarratt team moved in.
Alice finally caught a rare moment of rest and slept through the afternoon.
That evening, she went to discuss the situation with Eugenia.

Eugenia had already contacted her former loyal subordinates. Internal rifts had already begunt to appear within the Sarratts; once the truth about the “dead” mine exploded, the family would undoubtedly reap the whirlwind they had sown.
Back then, they had stood united to cast Eugenia out.
Now, as they fell apart over greed, it was poetic justice.
Alice knew she couldn’t rush things, so she waited patiently.
Julius cleared away any lingering worries back home.
“You don’t need to worry abo
domestic affairs–not a single piece of new: ll reach Xavier.
“My latest intel says we’ve secured the evidence of his crimes. Rowan is indeed very capable.
“Xavier is already under our surveillance. The moment we’ve settled the Sarratt affairs here, we can move to finish him off for good.”
This was spectacular news.
Alice’s eyes sparkled slightly, and a smile curled onto her lips.
She could finally avenge her mentor.
Eugenia’s expression remained calm; she had waited for this day for a long time, but now that it was here, her heart wasn’t as stirred as she expected.
At the Sarratts.
Once the technicians returned, they immediately powered up their laptops.
They expected to find a treasure trove of confidential data and wealth.
To their horror, the data exported from the computers was nothing but a mess of corrupted code.
The technicians assumed there had been a hardware malfunction.
However, when the hacker arrived and inspected the machines, he looked completely speechless.
“There is no data on these computers at all.”
The current head of the Sarratts was a man who bore a striking resemblance to Xavier.

Sitting beside him was a woman roughly the same age as Eugenia and quite similar to her in
appearance.
She was Eugenia’s sister, Seraphina Sarratt.
“Silas, it looks like we’ve been played by that Nolan brat.”
The technicians were afraid to even breathe, terrified that a single move would result in them. being torn to pieces.
Silas stared at the computer screens before grabbing a glass ashtray from the table and hurling it violently at them.
The technicians scrambled back a few steps, standing in the corner with their heads down in silent penance.
Silas’s tone carried a ruthless edge.
“He’s issuing a challenge to me.”
Seraphina gently rubbed her brow, her stray hairs falling forward, making her look even more fatigued.
“Perhaps we should speak with Eric directly.
“You know as well as I do that he isn’t someone to be trifled with.”
Otherwise, they wouldn’t have gone to such lengths to orchestrate that “accident” for Eric
years
ago.
The only pity was that Eric hadn’t died on the spot; instead, he was left in a vegetative state.
And three years later, he had miraculously returned to full health.
Silas, however, didn’t care. He waved his hand dismissively. “Have you forgotten? He was a vegetable for three years; his physical condition is nowhere near what it used to be. Back in that hill town, a few venomous snakes almost took his life.”
Thinking back to that incident, Seraphina didn’t argue.
“But he’s got that Alice Spencer at his side. That wench knows medicine; she’s a troublesome variable we didn’t account for.”

Silas treated this as a joke.
“A common girl who knows a bit of medicine has you this alarmed?
“Alice Spencer?
“Heh. Since she dares to interfere with my business, make her disappear.
Seraphina felt a jolt of panic in her heart.
Although she didn’t know why, a voice in her head kept telling her that they must not kill Alice.
Otherwise, the consequences would be unimaginable.
But after years of obeying Silas, she didn’t know how to advise him against it.
“You’re silent. Do you not want to go?”
