“Are you really… really going to sever your mate bond with my sister?”
Clara looked up, her pale lips trembling slightly, but a hint of surprise flashed in her eyes.

She threw herself into Simon’s arms.”I thought… I’d never have a chance to be with you again.”
Simon froze for a moment, then put his arms around her frail shoulders.
He clearly liked Clara very much and wanted her to be his mate, but a strange dull ache arose in his chest.
He subconsciously rubbed his temples, thinking it was probably because he hadn’t slept well all night, making him sensitive even to his
emotions.
“Get some rest.
I’ll claim you in front of the whole Pack once you’re better.”
He patted Clara’s back, his voice unconsciously softening.
As soon as Mrs. Davis saw the doctor enter, she immediately asked, “How is my daughter?”
“Don’t worry, the patient’s physical condition is fine. It’s mainly a temporary faint caused by excessive fright, which is why she fainted.”
The doctor took off his stethoscope. “Keep her for observation overnight, and if there are no problems tomorrow, she can be discharged.”
After hearing the doctor’s words, Mr. Davis, who had been sitting tensely, instantly relaxed.
Clara, however, opportunely tugged at Simon’s clothes, her voice coquettish.
“Simon, I’m a little hungry. I want to eat the soup dumplings from that shop on the corner.”
“Okay, wait a minute, I’ll go buy some.”
Simon answered without hesitation. As he turned around, he bumped into his bodyguard hurrying in, his hands stained with blood.
He recognized the bodyguard who had saved Emily from the cliff.
“Where’s Emily? Why isn’t she here?”
The bodyguard was puzzled. Simon had never cared about his Luna’s whereabouts before.
“Mr. Smith, Mrs. Smith didn’t come to the hospital with us.”
The bodyguard lowered his voice.”But she asked me to give you a gift. It’s in the car. She said it’s for your birthday… Do you want to see it now?”
Simon paused. He remembered she had said she prepared a gift for him.
It wasn’t unusual for her to send gifts.
She had sent gifts in previous years, but Simon had never cared.
His mind flashed back to Emily’s reply on the phone last night, and a strange irritability arose in his heart.
‘No need, just leave it there.”
His tone was cold.
“It’s probably some insignificant thing. I’m not in the mood to look at it.”
He was about to leave when he heard the bodyguard add, “Mrs. Smith also said you must open this gift yourself.”
Simon sneered.
They’re about to get divorced, and she’s still playing these games?
He checked the time on his phone and turned towards the elevator.”Tell her I’m not interested. Don’t send any more. I don’t like them anyway, I’ll just throw them away.”
As the metal elevator doors slowly closed, he was inexplicably reminded of Emily.
Her face uncontrollably appeared in his mind.
He remembered she always said she had a bad stomach, but she would always drink strong coffee when she stayed up late working.

Although she was afraid of heights, she actively accompanied him to climb mountains.

Even last week, he casually mentioned wanting to eat sweet and sour pork ribs, and the next day, the table was filled with ribs she had made herself.
“Sir? What flavor of bun would you like?”
The shop assistant’s voice broke his train of thought.
“One of each flavor, please.”
Simon took the paper bag, his nails unconsciously digging into his palm.
It was just a few years of marriage. Why bother remembering Emily’s insignificant kindnesses?
He didn’t love her.
Back at the hospital, Clara was very happy.”You’re the best to me!”
Simon smiled and handed her the buns, but his mind was still on Emily’s whereabouts.
His phone screen suddenly lit up.
He quickly opened it, realizing it wasn’t a message from Emily.
Simon felt inexplicably disappointed.
