Simon’s fingers turned pale as he clutched the bonding severance notification, his thumb repeatedly tracing Emily’s decisive signature.

He couldn’t believe it.

But the pain that nearly tortured him to death couldn’t lie.

The mate bond they had maintained for three years was truly broken.

The garage lights buzzed overhead. He abruptly turned, seizing the bodyguard’s collar.”What else did she say that day?”

“Did she tell you anything?”

“Mr. Smith…”

The bodyguard stumbled, “Mrs. Smith’s wrist wound was bleeding continuously. She only told me to give you the gift.”

And…”

He pulled a kraft paper bag from his pocket. “This is for the Davis family.”

Simon snatched the bag and tore it open. On the yellowed paper, Emily’s handwriting was still neat:”Mr. Davis, Mrs. Davis, this is your Declaration of Disownment and a bankbook.

Thinking about it, I shouldn’t have been found. This document severs our relationship, the bankbook repays your years of raising me. From now on, I’m no longer your daughter…”

Simon’s hand trembled uncontrollably.

He had a feeling Emily was truly leaving.

“Send this to the Davis family.”

“Yes, Mr. Smith.”

Half an hour after the bodyguard left, Mr. and Mrs. Davis called.

Simon took a deep breath and answered. Mrs. Davis’s urgent voice almost burst through the receiver.

“Simon! Did Emily contact you? She left a Declaration of Disownment at home, saying she wants to cut ties with us!”

Simon’s nails dug deep into his palm.

“How would I know?” he sneered.

“You can’t even control your own biological daughter, why are you asking me?”

“What’s your attitude?!” Mrs. Davis’s voice trembled.”If it weren’t for you and Clara… Emily wouldn’t…”

‘Enough!

Are you doing any better? You gave your family’s business to Clara, what right do you have to talk to me now?”

Simon abruptly hung up, slamming the phone onto the car hood with a dull thud.

A gust of wind brought a chill.

He suddenly remembered Emily. She had always been so considerate.

She had always consistently done those small everyday things.

Simon slumped onto the seat, reaching for his cigarette case only to find it empty.

His frustration deepened.

“Mr. Smith, Mrs. Smith was indeed badly injured,”

The assistant’s voice suddenly sounded.”She said… she said there were some things she had to do now, or she wouldn’t have the chance later.”

For the first time, he realized that Emily, who silently tidied his cufflinks, who brewed him porridge all night when he had a stomachache, had perhaps been pushed too far, too far by him.

The mate who usually couldn’t bear to let him feel any pain, this time, left him with nothing but excruciating agony.

And this time, she didn’t even leave him a chance to turn back.
