Simon placed his phone upside down on the passenger seat, his face extremely grim..

Five minutes ago, he had hung up the private investigator’s call.

They had spotted Emily at the airport on security footage, but her subsequent movements were untraceable.

Due to the weather, many flights had been cancelled, so it was impossible to determine where Emily had gone.

His watch ticked to 7:00 PM, and Clara called. He stared at the screen for two seconds before answering.

“Simon, what are you doing?”

Clara’s voice was sickeningly sweet. “I found a newly opened French restaurant. Shall we go try it?”

Simon turned the steering wheel, driving out of the underground parking garage.”Send me the address, I’ll pick you up.”

In the rearview mirror, he saw the heavy dark circles under his eyes. He hadn’t slept well since Emily disappeared a few days ago.

On the way, Clara talked about her favorite foods, as usual, but Simon, unusually, only responded with occasional “mhm”s.

Even when the car stopped at the restaurant entrance, he kept checking his phone, hoping the investigator would send a new message.

“Sir, this is our store’s new product. We use imported cream. Would you like to try it?”

The waiter smiled and recommended a dessert.

Simon nodded impassively.”Okay.”

Clara’s eyes lit up instantly, her fingertips unconsciously tracing the edge of the table.

She suddenly imagined cutting the cake and finding a special surprise inside, like a ring.

But when the cake arrived, Clara picked up the knife and cut it, her smile freezing.

There was nothing inside the cake.

“Simon, did you forget something?”

The beautiful omega poked the cream on the cake, her tone complainingly coquettish.

Simon was looking at his phone, casually replying, “What?”

Clara’s face fell completely. She stopped talking, and dinner ended in awkward silence.

On the way back, she sulked, staring out the window at the night view.

Suddenly, Simon’s phone vibrated violently in his pocket.

Thinking it was the investigator with news of Emily’s whereabouts, he slammed on the brakes.

The tires screeched against the ground, and the horns of the cars behind them blared in unison.

“Simon! Are you crazy?!” Clara’s face turned pale, her fragile omega body wincing from the pressure of the seatbelt on her chest.

Simon didn’t bother to comfort her, trembling as he answered the phone.”You found her? Where is she?”

A strange voice came from the other end:”Hello, this is bank customer service. There’s been an unusual transaction on your credit card…”

Simon’s hand clutching the phone was tense, Clara looking at him in disbelief.”So you almost killed us just to answer this call?”

I’m waiting for a very important call.”

Simon restarted the car, his voice cold as ice.

Clara’s eyes instantly reddened, she bit her lip and said nothing more.

The night wind blew in through the half-opened window, carrying a chill. The atmosphere in the car was more oppressive than ever.

Simon looked at the blurry red and green lights ahead, his wolf having only one thought, “Find our mate, Emily Davis, as soon as possible!”
