Chapter 49
-Hailey-
I woke up to warm sunlight on my eyelids. For a few seconds, I forgot the world existed. I was cocooned in Logan’s arms with his chest pressed against my back. I didn’t want to move and ruin the peace.
But then his lips grazed the curve of my shoulder, and my heartbeat kicked up a notch.
“Morning, Ace,” he murmured, his voice rough.
I twisted in his arms to face him. His green eyes were half–lidded, soft with contentment, the that made my stomach flutter.
“Morning,” I whispered back, my fingers tracing his jaw.
His lips twitched into a smirk, and he leaned in, capturing my mouth in a slow, lazy kiss.
I pulled away. “Logan, gross, I have morning breath.”
He chuckled, low and dangerous, pulling me in again. “You think I give a fuck?”

I melted into him, my hands sliding into his messy curls, pulling him closer. His body pressed against mine, warm and solid, and I could feel the hard length of his cock pressed against my thigh.

“We should really get up,” he murmured against my lips, hands sliding down to grip my hips. “We got a lotta worryin‘ and stressing to do today.”
“Yeah,” I breathed, arching into him. “You’re really tense.”
He chuckled again and rolled me onto my back. His weight settled over me and his teeth grazed my collarbone. “Think you can fix that?”
I grinned up at him, my fingers trailing down his chest. “I’m pretty sure I can figure something out.”
His lips crashed into mine again, harder this time, his tongue sliding against mine. I moaned into his mouth, my hands gripping his shoulders.
The sound of his phone buzzing on the nightstand broke the moment. Logan groaned, burying his face in my neck. “Ignore it,” he muttered, his teeth grazing my skin.
“What if it’s important?” I whispered, even as my hands slid down his back, pulling him closer.

He growled against my neck, and I pushed him onto his back, climbing on top of him so I could reach for his phone. “It’s. Kat,” I murmured, handing it to him.
His expression went dark, and he let out a frustrated sigh. “Kat,” he muttered, answering the call.
I leaned down, pressing kisses along his chest, determined to distract him from whatever bad news Kat was about to deliver. My lips traced the lines of his tattoos, and I felt his breath hitch as I nibbled softly at his skin.
“Hailey,” he growled out a warning, but I didn’t stop. My hands slid lower, and I felt him twitch beneath me.
“Logan, you there?” Kat’s voice crackled through the phone, sharp and impatient.
He groaned again, this time in frustration, and grabbed my wrist, stopping me mid–motion. With a smirk, he hit the speaker button and held the phone between us.

“Yeah, I’m here,” he said, his voice strained. “Hailey’s here too.”
I rolled my eyes, biting back a laugh.
“Good. Because we’ve got some serious shit to talk about,” Kat snapped.
I froze, my cheeks burning as I realized Kat probably heard everything. Logan’s smirk got bigger, and he leaned back. clearly enjoying my embarrassment.
“Go ahead,” he said, his tone casual. But his eyes were locked on me, daring me to move.
Kat sighed. “First off, that recording Hailey got? Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Becker’s dug his own g already sent it to his higher–ups. Internal Affairs. He’s toast.”
I felt a rush of pride, but it was quickly stamped out by Kat’s next words.

“But,” she continued. “Becker’s not going down without a fight. He’s going to lash out. You need to keep Hailey close, Logan. Keep her hidden. He won’t hesitate to go after her.”
Logan’s jaw flexed, something raw flickering through his eyes. I felt a chill run through me. “Already the plan,” he said, his voice low.
“Good,” Kat replied. “And Maverick. I’m pushing for bail. It’s not a guarantee, but with Becker under scrutiny, there’s a chance I can get him out. Keep an eye on your phone – you might be picking him up
before lunch.”
Logan squeezed my hip. “We’ll be ready.”
“Alright,” Kat said. “Stay sharp, both of you. Becker’s cornered, so he’ll be even more dangerous.”
The call ended, and Logan tossed his phone back onto the nightstand. His arms wrapped around me, pulling me close.
“You heard her,” he murmured, his lips landing on my forehead. “You’re stuck with me.”
I smiled, resting my head against his chest. “Oh noooo…. Anyway. I’m just impressed you stayed rock–hard through that phone call.”
He laughed, but his cock twitched against me in response. “Yeah, well. Not difficult when I have a naked fox on top of me.”
I snorted, rolling my eyes. “Naked fox, huh? That’s the best you got?”
Logan smirked, his hands sliding down to grip my ass. “Nah, you’re right. How about… infuriating pain in my ass?”
I laughed, kissing the side of his neck. “That’s more like it.”
He rolled us over so I was beneath him, his weight pinning me to the mattress.
“Logan,” I breathed, my hands sliding down his back. “We really should-”
“Get up?” he interrupted, leaning down to nip at my collarbone. “Yeah. I’m already up. Finish what you started, Ace.”
I laughed again, but it turned into a moan as he pushed into me. I wrapped my legs around his waist as he set a slow, torturous pace.
“Christ, you’re gonna be the death of me, Ace,” he muttered through his teeth.
“Might as well go out with a bang,” I whispered back, my nails digging into his back.
He chuckled, and I felt him shift, his thrusts getting deeper, harder. My breath hitched, and I arched against him, chasing the heat building inside me.

His lips found mine again, swallowing my moans as he drove me closer to the edge.
“Logan,” I gasped, my vision blurring as I teetered on the brink.
Then his phone buzzed again.
I groaned, burying my face in Logan’s shoulder. “For the love of God, why are you so popular this morning?”
Logan laughed, but it was strained. He reached for his phone again, glancing lazily at the screen.

I leaned up, kissing the side of his neck softly. He started thrusting again, agonizingly slow as he listened to whatever Jake was saying. I tried to stifle my moans by biting a pillow.
“Yeah,” Logan said finally, his tone clipped. “We’ll be ready.”
He hung up and tossed the phone aside with a frustrated sigh. Still thrusting, his green eyes met mine, dark and serious.
“Monty’s getting out. We gotta go pick him up.”
“What the fuck? Already?” I whined, gripping his hips to keep him inside me..
“Guess Kat worked her magic,” he confirmed. He leaned down, kissing me slowly, like he was trying to steal a moment of peace before the chaos. “We’ll finish this later,” he murmured against my lips.
I laughed softly, smacking him on the ass as he pulled out of me. “Promises, promises.”
We untangled ourselves reluctantly, and I rolled out of bed, heading for the dresser drawer he’d magnanimously gifted to
- me.
“Put on your drinkin‘ pants, Ace,” he murmured as he got dressed. “Today’s gonna be a wild one.”
