Chapter 14
Hearing Valerie’s threat, Mateo was even somewhat incredulous.
“Was this a threat to me?”
Mateo chuckled lightly, “But what I fear the least is threats.”
Valerie did not expect Mateo to be even calmer than she had imagined, as if all of this had nothing to do with him.
But the truth is, he had already established connections long ago. Otherwise, why would Catalina have appealed so many times over the years without success?
No matter how many times Catalina appealed, it was useless as long as Mateo didn’t relent!
Valerie suddenly understood why Catalina would rather die than be by her side.
I just never thought that one day I would also have this, “Mateo, you are really heartless.”
“If I were Catalina, I would rather die than stay by your side for even a moment!”
“Someone like you, doesn’t deserve to have happiness!”
“You should just lose everything you love, living in pain forever!”
These words had also been said to Mateo by Catalina before she died, and he paused for a moment, as if he had al- ready become immune to them.
“Is that so? Then I’ll wait.”
The person he loved had long been dead, and he had no lingering attachment.
If he could start over, he would rather die than the person he used to be.
Valerie knew that it was useless for Mateo to say anything, and she was also too lazy to struggle anymore.
He picked up the pen and signed his name on the divorce agreement.
Just as she was packing up and getting ready to leave, Mateo suddenly called out to her.
“Wait a moment, leave behind what doesn’t belong to you.
Valerie chuckled lightly and picked out all the things he had given her directly.
Mateo just sat quietly on the sofa, the smoke from his fingertips lingering in the air.
“Clean up.”

Valerie’s face showed obvious impatience, “Mateo, have you had enough? I’ve taken out everything you’ve given me, what else is there!”
Mateo got up and walked over to her, suddenly grabbing her hand.
He glanced at Valerie’s arm and casually remarked, “And Catalina’s skin.”
Upon hearing this, Valerie suddenly widened her eyes. “Mateo, are you crazy? Catalina is already dead. Do you ex- pect me to give her skin back to her?”
“This skin was given to me by you, not something I wanted. Why should I give it away?”
Mateo’s face immediately darkened, “So you mean you don’t want to stay?”
Valerie glanced at him and said, “She’s already dead, what else does she want me to do?”
“Then you just cut it off and give it back to her!”
Mateo said it so casually, but Valerie was still scared, her heart trembling along with it.
“Mateo, are you crazy?”
“I won’t! Let me go now! I’ll pretend I don’t know anything and won’t speak ill of you!”
Mateo was convinced that once she made up her mind, no one could change it, not even herself.
“I said, leave the skin.”
Mateo’s face immediately turned serious.
“Don’t understand?”
The moment Valerie looked into his eyes, she was ready to rush out, only to find that the door had been locked.
She desperately pounded on the door, “Help! Someone help me!”
Mateo had known what she would do early on and had removed all the people long before.
Seeing Mateo approaching her, Valerie couldn’t hold back her emotions any longer and sat down on the ground, cry- ing.
“Mateo, can you please forgive me?”
“This skin is of no use to her anymore! Can I give you money instead?”
Mateo just looked at her coldly.
“But her skin, you don’t deserve to touch.”
He approached her with a knife, and Valerie couldn’t hide her panic on her face.
“What are you doing! Don’t come over! Go away!”

Mateo snatched her arm and viciously cut into her skin.
Without any hesitation, Valerie screamed in pain, her pleas mixed with sobs.
Mateo, however, did not feel a shred of pity.
Until he was satisfied and cut the skin off, Valerie’s hands were covered in blood, and she was in so much pain that she almost passed out.
His face turned pale all of a sudden, “Mateo! You will not have a good death!”
Mateo ignored him and simply wiped away the fresh blood on his skin, placing it in a box.
Watching his behavior, Valerie burst into laughter.
“Mateo, did you really think Catalina would forgive you for what you did?”
“Even if you went down to apologize to her, she would definitely not give you another glance!”
“You were really pitiful…”
