Jared, especially, was now listening to Tracy’s words with suspicion. He knew Tracy well. While she had a bad temper, she wouldn’t do this to Yvonne without cause. Linking this with Sam’s earlier statements, his mind was a mess. Could Yvonne really be the mistress?
Chase recovered first. He immediately snatched the mop from Tracy’s hand and threw it onto the floor. He rushed to Yvonne, and when he saw her swaying weakly, his anger hit its peak.
“Tracy! You will regret doing this to us! Security! Where is the hotel security? The security here is terrible! Why aren’t they here yet?”
He was enraged. Hitting him and his brother was one thing, but how dare she hit Yvonne? Yvonne had been frail since childhood. This rough treatment would surely make her ill. Now, he didn’t even know if she could attend tomorrow’s exhibition. It was despicable!
Could Tracy, feeling inferior, be trying to ensure Yvonne couldn’t attend the exhibition? Is she trying to ruin Yvonne?

He grew angrier as he spoke, his chest aching. Tracy had gone too far this time. He would absolutely never forgive her.
Tracy acted as if she hadn’t heard him, turning away to wipe a tear. She heard Sam ask her with concern, “Tracy, are you alright?”
Tracy shook her head. “I’m fine. I’m used to it.”
A moment later, the hotel security arrived. Chase pointed at Tracy and accused her, “Security! Tracy just assaulted us in public! We are all injured! Arrest her immediately!”
The security guard looked at Tracy. “Miss, can’t you settle things peacefully? Why did you resort to violence?”
Tracy calmly took out her phone and played an audio recording of the two brothers insulting her.
After the recording ended, Tracy said mildly, “They were verbally abusive first, so I lost my temper and hit them. Just because I switched rooms with my associate, and they saw me exit his room, they immediately slandered our relationship. It pains me to admit it, but these are my own biological brothers. When even my own brothers slander me so unfairly, how can I not be angry?”

After all, they were a family. They were probably just causing trouble due to a misunderstanding. Once the misunderstanding was cleared, they would be fine. Furthermore, everyone who stayed here was wealthy and powerful. They were just security guards. Everyone here was someone they couldn’t afford to offend.
With this in mind, the security guard gave them all a stern lecture, including Tracy, saying she was too impulsive and shouldn’t have hit them.
Tracy nodded repeatedly in agreement. Once the guard left, Tracy looked at the three “drowned dogs,” turned around, and walked away. Sam followed closely behind her.

They would settle this score with Tracy sooner or later. If she dared to hit them, she should be ready for the consequences.
Jared, however, stood frozen in place, staring at the two miserable figures in front of him, deep in thought.

He had seen very clearly that Tracy only resorted to violence because they had insulted her. Yet, they insisted that all the problems originated with Tracy. In this moment, he realized, wasn’t I acting the same way before?
How many things had they misunderstood about Tracy? How much had they never known?
During dinner that evening, Jared and Chase changed their clothes, and Yvonne also emerged, looking composed.
Chandler pulled out a chair for Yvonne. She naturally sat down next to him. Right next to them sat Tracy and Sam.
Chase’s expression was ugly when he saw Tracy, but he sat down next to Jared without a word.
Jared looked at Chandler with a scrutinizing gaze. “Chandler, are you married or not?”
He knew Tracy had a bad temper, but she wouldn’t randomly accuse Yvonne of being a mistress. This wasn’t the first time she had brought it up, which made him suspect that Chandler was really hiding something.
Chandler’s hand, which was holding the ladle for the soup, paused but quickly returned to normal. Before he could speak, Chase cut in.
“What do you mean by that question? Do you believe Tracy’s nonsense? I think she just can’t stand that Yvonne is doing better than her, so she’s trying to trip them up. Have you forgotten how she tried to get Chandler’s attention by deliberately wearing the same dress as Yvonne at that banquet?”
Although he now had his doubts about Tracy’s claims, he still preferred to believe Yvonne. That lunatic not only embarrassed them in front of the Johnson family’s golden boy two days ago but had also assaulted them today. It was utterly excessive. Though she hadn’t caused any lasting physical harm, the insult was profound. His body still ached.
Jared shot Chase a sidelong look. Chase immediately fell silent. Jared then asked Chandler, “Do you and Tracy know each other, and did you have some sort of past conflict?”
This was the only way to explain the core of the issue. Tracy might be impulsive, but she wouldn’t repeatedly slander a complete stranger. Unless that person knew her and they had a prior grudge.
Chandler placed the bowl of soup in front of Yvonne and said unhurriedly, “She had an issue with a report she wrote at the company, which resulted in a loss of five million. I had Quinton fire her and ordered our lawyers to sue her.”
With that light explanation, he neatly defined his relationship with Tracy as simply a former superior and subordinate.
Yvonne sipped her soup and glanced at Tracy’s reaction. Seeing Tracy turn her face away, Yvonne assumed she was upset and decided to ignore her.
A pretty face that needed to depend on a man to survive was nothing without one. She didn’t view a rival like that as a real threat; she practically ignored her.

Jared’s expression eased after hearing Chandler. He sneered. “If she made a mistake, she should have the integrity to face the consequences. An employee who causes such a loss to the company is better off gone.”
Five million was no small amount, especially for a salaried worker like Tracy. It was an astronomical figure. He figured Tracy would eventually come begging them for help if she couldn’t repay the debt.
But looking at Tracy now, she didn’t seem to be begging anyone for anything. Did she borrow the money from someone else?
Is that why she’s debasing herself, becoming Sam’s mistress at Vector?
The thought of Tracy emerging from Sam’s room made him feel it was absolutely necessary to talk to her. Five million was nothing to the Xander family. As long as she bowed her head and apologized to them, they wouldn’t hold it against her.
Chase snorted. “So Tracy was the one who made the mistake first. How dare she claim it was our fault?”
Tracy quickly received a friend request acceptance on WhatsApp from Natalie’s uncle, Payne.
Her fingers trembled slightly as she held the phone. After a long thought, she finally sent him a message: “Good evening, I’m Riley’s niece.”
He quickly replied with a voice message: “I know. Natalie told me about your situation. Please send me all the evidence you’ve collected so far, in picture format.”
Tracy’s heart pounded. With trembling hands, she sent Payne all the evidence she had previously photographed.
A moment later, he replied with one word: “Received.”
Tracy felt uneasy. She didn’t know what Payne would think of the evidence. After sending it, she felt even more anxious. She was so distracted that she remained absent–minded even while eating dinner.
Sam served her a piece of eggplant. “Are you still bothered by what happened earlier?”
