Watching her darling daughter cry, she lovingly wiped her tears. Faye’s own eyes started to well up.
Jared also strode over, handing a gift box to Sarah, “Grandma, this is the gift I brought for you. Open it and see if you like it.”
Sarah didn’t even look at it. She pushed the gift straight into Tracy’s arms, “Tracy, my gift is for you. Open it and see what it is!”
Tracy glanced at Jared, seeing the displeasure on his face. She was about to say something when Sarah interjected, “I gave it to you, so it’s yours. Don’t worry about them. Open it and
see!”
Tracy lowered her head and unwrapped the box Inside was a pair of exquisitely packaged emerald earrings. Judging by the quality, they were quite valuable.
Sarah smiled lovingly, “They are beautiful. They suit our Tracy perfectly. You should accept them immediately!”
Yvonne clenched her hands at her sides, her nails digging into her flesh, yet she felt no pain. Tracy has once again stolen my spotlight. It’s maddening!
She pondered for a moment, then asked Tracy, Tracy, what were you doing at Vector Tech today?”
The mention of Vector Tech made Jared’s face grow even darker. He wearily rubbed his throbbing temples.
He had only gotten off the plane at five this afternoon. The moment he got home, he heard that because Tracy went to Vector Tech today, Sam was putting a halt to the collaboration with Xander Corp.
That collaboration had taken Jared half a year to negotiate. Now, because of Tracy’s single action, all their efforts had been wasted.

Tracy looked at Yvonne and said calmly, “Thanks to you, I was fired by Gaunt Corp, so I went to Vector Tech for an interview! After all, a person has to eat, right? If I don’t work, what will I eat or drink, right?”
Her words were deliberately aimed at the Xander family. Yvonne is a delicate, socialite. Even if she didn’t work and stayed home, she wouldn’t go hungry.
But I’m different. I’m a working-class person. If I dont work, I’ll be begging for scraps.
Yvonne was speechless.
Then Chase spoke up, “Tracy, stop being so cynical. No one is forcing you to work. Why are you acting so dramatically? Do you think the Xander family is so poor that we can’t afford to support you?”
He had felt a twinge of guilt when he realized Yvonne had given Tracy an opened gift, especially since he was the first to accuse Tracy earlier.
But after hearing Tracy’s words, that guilt instantly vanished. Yvonne is so sweet and sensible; she couldn’t have meant any harm.
Conversely, Tracy’s cutting words and merciless attitude made her thoroughly unlikeable.
Tracy was so angry she laughed, “Oh, you think the Xander family is rich and influential? What does that have to do with me? You know perfectly well who you spend your money on, don’t you? Yvonne gets the best of everything. You give it to her without her even asking. But what about me? If I don’t work, I’ll starve on the streets.”
When she was a child, there was a long period where Tracy envied Yvonne. Yvonne had the love of her parents and brothers. She was a fairy-tale princess come to life.
She remembered when her mother and she first moved out. Tracy was only five. She was difficult every night. Her mother set up a street stall during the day and had to soothe her to sleep at night.
For Tracy, her mother gave up her dreams and clipped her own wings, just so Tracy could fly.

Just then, Faye stepped in to counsel Tracy, “Tracy, if you don’t want to work, you can move back home. There’s plenty to eat and drink here. We won’t mistreat you.”
“Don’t say things like that anymore. You’ll hurt your two brothers’ feelings. What’s done is done. Let’s let bygones be bygones.”
Though Faye said that, she desperately wanted Tracy to go away and never come back.
She was already sick of serving the two brothers she absolutely did not want to serve another demanding relative.
Yvonne walked up, linking her arm with Tracy’s, and smiled, “Yes, come back home. We sisters can keep each other company. You should move back.”
Tracy violently yanked her arm away from Yvonne, “A ‘bygones be bygones’ indeed! My mother trusted you and took pity on you. She found you a job and had my father look after you. And how did you repay my mother? You ended up with my father and even gave birth to Yvonne, the bastard. Don’t think your good life will last. Things that are stolen must eventually be returned. I hope you can still say that when the time comes.”
Faye was a student my mother had once sponsored. She studied secretarial science from middle school until college graduation.
