Chapter 5 No Need to Report Her Affairs Anymore

When Tracy came back from the restroom, the meal was nearly over, and before long, the gathering dispersed.
By the time she returned home, Chandler still wasn’t back. She showered, then went straight to bed.
She slept without dreams.
The next morning, Tracy went to work as usual.
After finishing last month’s work summary, she knocked on the CFO’s office door.
He skimmed through her report, nodded in satisfaction, and watched her leave. Only then did he open his drawer, take out the resignation letter Tracy had handed him yesterday, and head to HR.
As the elevator doors opened, he ran into Quinton, Chandler’s assistant. “Greetings, Mr. Quinton,” he said with a smile.
Quinton nodded back.
As the doors closed, Quinton asked, “Mr. Felix, which floor are you headed to?”
“Tenth floor.”
Quinton hesitated, then casually added, “Also going to HR for some paperwork?”
Felix shook the resignation in his hand. “No, I’m submitting Tracy’s resignation.”
Quinton’s expression shifted. Thinking he had misheard, he asked again, “Who did you say resigned?”
“Tracy Xander, of course,” Felix replied, giving him a strange look.
Why was Quinton reacting so strongly? Could it be he also valued Tracy’s abilities and didn’t want her to leave?
With a sigh, Felix added, “I wanted to persuade her to stay, but she said it was for health reasons. I couldn’t push. After all, health comes first.”
As Chandler’s personal assistant, Quinton knew very well who Tracy was.
He glanced at the letter in Felix’s hand. Sure enough, Tracy’s signature was at the bottom.
A flicker of surprise passed through him, followed quickly by a sneer. Tracy was healthy—she didn’t look ill at all.
Most likely she was faking sickness to get Mr. Gaunt’s attention. Just another petty trick to compete for favor.
When the elevator stopped, Felix got off. Quinton finished his errand and then returned to the seventeenth floor.
He dropped some files with the secretary and saw another secretary preparing to deliver documents to Chandler’s office.
Quinton stepped over. “I’ll take those. You can get back to your work. I need to see Mr. Gaunt anyway.”
Relieved, the secretary handed the documents over. “Thanks, Mr. Quinton. Coffee’s on me next time.”
With the excuse taken care of, Quinton knocked on Chandler’s door.
“Come in,” Chandler’s magnetic voice sounded.
Quinton entered, reported the day’s work and schedule, then hesitated. “There’s… one more thing.”
Chandler looked up. “What is it?”
Quinton hesitated, then began, “It’s about Tracy—”
Chandler’s face darkened instantly. He assumed it was about last night, about Tracy making trouble again.
Before Quinton could finish, Chandler cut him off, his voice cold. “From now on, anything about her—don’t report it to me. Whatever she does, I don’t care.”
“Understood,” Quinton muttered, swallowing the words he had been about to say.
So it was true. Chandler was completely fed up with Tracy. Otherwise, why would he lose patience the moment her name came up?
Clearly, he didn’t want to hear a single thing about her anymore.
Carrying the signed files, Quinton left the office.
At lunch, Tracy went to the cafeteria. Her colleagues stared in surprise.
After she got her food and sat down, a friendly coworker leaned across the table and lowered her voice. “Ms. Xander, you’re not going home to cook for your husband today?”
The coworker knew she was married, but not that her husband was the boss himself.
Tracy stirred her food. “No.”
In the past, every day at noon, she would leave work to cook for Chandler. Even if he rarely came home for lunch, she would bring it to him.
Watching him eat had always made her happy. She’d kept that habit for years.
Only later did she discover that her carefully prepared meals usually ended up in the trash.
Her coworker asked curiously, “Did you two fight?”
“No. He has a mistress,” Tracy said, biting into a chicken leg, her words muffled.
The coworker immediately fell silent, burying her head in her food.
So calm, even after finding out her husband was cheating? Anyone else would’ve stormed over by now.
That afternoon around three, Tracy received another offer from her partner, Sam Zach.
It was the third invitation from the medical AI research department.
The message was polite but firm: if she declined again, there likely wouldn’t be another chance.
