Sam was surrounded by people, discussing professional issues. When he saw Tracy walking toward him, he quickly went to greet her.

He apologized to Tracy, “Tracy, I got tied up with a group of people. Are you alright?”

Tracy shook her head, “I’m fine.”

Her disagreement with the Xander family wasn’t new. She was long used to it.

If they saw her walking toward Yvonne and didn’t try to cause trouble, I would be surprised. “That’s good,” Sam finally relaxed.

Just then, another small commotion started at the entrance. Tracy looked toward the door.

She saw Morten, impeccably dressed in a formal suit. Her eyes lit up with joy. The Professor coming here is a wonderful surprise!

Morten walked into the banquet hall with a middle-aged man, chatting and laughing.

Sam pointed to the middle-aged man beside Morten, “That is Mr. Lorde.”

Tracy nodded slightly. They were about to walk toward the entrance when they saw the Xander family brothers and Chandler approaching to greet the newcomers.

Sam stopped and looked at her, asking worriedly, “Tracy, are you still okay?”

Sam knew about Tracy’s situation. My husband and two brothers are both siding with my stepsister. I must feel terrible.

Tracy shrugged dismissively, “What could be wrong with me? In industry competition, everyone relies on their own ability. As for them, I stopped caring a long time ago.”

“I’m just afraid I’ll miss the opportunity you’re creating for me because of my personal issues.”

She wasn’t angry at all. Jared and the others are merely taking advantage of their proximity. Business is war; everyone relies on their own competence.

It was Sam’s kindness that she was afraid of failing. That was her only regret.

Sam looked at her and said earnestly, “I’ve always believed that true talent will shine eventually, so I’m not worried about your professional skill at all. You are just a pearl covered

by a black cloth. Once the cloth is lifted, you will shine brilliantly. If you feel uncomfortable and don’t want to go over now, we can wait until they leave.”

Tracy looked at Sam gratefully, “Thank you for your understanding.”

Patting Tracy’s shoulder, Sam continued, “It’s fine. Didn’t you write a paper? After the banquet, we’ll go find the Professor. I believe he’ll be very happy to see the achievements you’ve made since your comeback.”

Tracy glanced at the group chatting near the entrance. Her heart felt no sadness. She was used to being ignored by everyone; what did it matter?

Chandler, after exchanging pleasantries with Morten and the others, introduced Yvonne, “Let me introduce you. This is Yvonne, Miss Xander. She is a straight-through Master’s-to- Doctoral student at Northville University.”

Waylon merely smiled and nodded, “Miss Xander is so young and already a top doctoral student at Northville University. You have a limitless future!”

Yvonne felt flattered but replied modestly, “You’re too kind.”

After exchanging a few polite words with Mr. Lorde, Yvonne turned her attention to Morten, “I revised a paper based on the advice you gave me last time. Do you have time to look at it?”

Chandler stepped forward and said to Morten, “I hope you’ll do us the honor of giving Yvonne some guidance on her paper.”

Morten’s sharp gaze fixed on Yvonne. How could he not know Chandler’s intention? Not capable enough to win on her own merit, she resorts to trying to use connections to curry favor with him.

How shameless.

Morten glanced at Yvonne, who was holding Chandler’s arm. A hint of cynicism flashed in his eyes. Look at the man Tracy married. He openly shows off his mistress in front of his wife. His character is clearly terrible.

I wonder what kind of taste that girl had to waste three years on such a scoundrel.

But it’s good that she finally came to her senses and has returned to her career. It’s not too late to start

over.

He didn’t know the full extent of the relationship between Tracy and Yvonne, but even if Yvonne was excellent, her character wouldn’t meet his standards for a student.

Besides, this person doesn’t meet the standard for a student. Why should he waste his time on her?

Yvonne didn’t seem embarrassed. She confidently took out her tablet and quickly

Then, she presented her paper to Morten, “This is a paper I revised a few days ago. You can see my sincerity. I sincerely want to humbly seek your guidance. I hope you will give me this

chance.”

This was the result of several sleepless nights of careful thought. She was very confident in her professional knowledge.

Morten, however, only glanced at it briefly, then frowned, “Miss Xander, your level is quite good for an ordinary person. But I stopped accepting students a long time ago. You would be better off looking for someone else instead of wasting time on me.”

His words were already very polite. To be blunt, Yvonne wasn’t qualified to be his student.

Considering that the girl needed to save face, he didn’t want to reject her outright in front of so many people, so he offered an excuse.

A look of embarrassment flashed across Yvonne’s face, but she wasn’t ready to give up. After putting in so much effort, she couldn’t surrender.

She flipped through the tablet and pushed it closer to Morten, “You can look closely. Even if you’re not satisfied, you should at least read the whole thing, shouldn’t you?”

Morten pushed the tablet back, looking annoyed. “Miss Xander, I am very busy. I don’t have time to waste here. Do I need to be clearer? You haven’t met my standards for accepting students. Understood?”

He turned, intending to leave. What kind of person is this? She doesn’t take a hint. She is truly annoying.

Chase, seeing their cherished sister being rejected like that, wanted to intervene, but Jared restrained him.

Just then, Waylon, who had been silent, spoke up, “I think this young lady is quite promising. Why don’t you reconsider?”

Morten snorted, saying bluntly, “There are many talented people across the country. Am I supposed to accept every single one of them as a student?”

Waylon: “…”

Fine, he’d keep quiet then.

The two of them-one desperate for a master, one firmly refusing students-were truly two

extremes.

Having been rejected by Morten several times, Yvonne felt utterly humiliated. Her eyes started to redden.

Her hand, holding the tablet, instinctively clenched. She couldn’t understand. What was she lacking?

She was top-notch in every aspect. Why did Morten simply refuse to take her seriously?
