Tracy returned to the technical department and noticed Linsey looking at her a bit strangely, but she didn’t pay it much mind.
Tracy was organizing the documents on her desk when she turned around and saw Linsey standing behind her, looking like he had something to say but was holding back. She looked at Linsey with a slight smile. “What’s wrong? Do you need to talk to me?”
She sensed Linsey definitely had something to tell her. Recalling how his gaze had seemed different after Yvonne visited, she couldn’t help but wonder if Linsey had heard something they said, which was now causing him to misunderstand her.
Linsey walked up to Tracy and spoke hesitantly. I wanted to ask, is your relationship with Mr. Zach really that kind of relationship?”
The other members of their team also stopped working and looked over at Tracy in unison.
Tracy neatly stacked the files in her hand and asked back, without changing her expression, “Do you believe those rumors? Haven’t you already gotten a sense of my capabilities?”
Hearing this, the few people looked embarrassed. Linsey said awkwardly, “We were just curious, that’s all. Don’t take it personally. It’s just that my junior colleague’s cousin said you used to be her classmate, and she said your conduct was poor even before, so I just asked casually.” Although he and Yvonne were classmates in university, they hadn’t kept in touch after graduate school. He was surprised when she suddenly contacted him.
He heard she was representing Xander Corp to discuss a partnership, but because of Tracy, their negotiations were not going smoothly. He didn’t know Yvonne’s motive for seeking him out, as he couldn’t help with the cooperation itself. However, Yvonne’s cousin seemed to have a strong dislike for Tracy, constantly using words to belittle Tracy in front of him. Connecting this to the gossip he had heard over the past couple of days, he had automatically made some connections, which was why he couldn’t help but come and ask Tracy.
Tracy shrugged carelessly. “It’s fine. Actions speak louder than words. I will use my abilities to prove that I didn’t get this job by using connections. I hope you won’t look at me through biased eyes just because of some gossip, like they do. After all, we have to work face-to-face every day, and I don’t want to work in an unpleasant atmosphere. What do you think?”
The few people nodded simultaneously. They felt the same way. Although Tracy had only been there for a few days, her work ability was no less than any of theirs. For an undergraduate to have such remarkable capability left even the doctoral-level high-achievers among them feeling inferior.

third anniversary of her mother’s death. Her aunt had said that the older generation considered this day an important farewell ritual, requiring all relatives and close friends to attend the memorial.
Their family didn’t have many relatives. After the divorce, they lost contact with her father’s side. Her mother’s side had virtually no relatives left after her uncle passed away. If the Morgan family hadn’t been so kind to her, with Morgan often comforting her, she doubted she would have made it this far. Her mother’s biggest wish before she passed away was to see them one last time, but sadly, that wish was unfulfilled, and she left with regret.
She truly hoped her two brothers would attend the memorial, as this service would be the final, official farewell. She hadn’t visited her mother in a long time and had many things she wanted to tell her.
She went to a flower shop and selected carnations because they symbolize love and blessings for a mother. The clerk asked her to sit and wait for a moment. As she sat down, she turned and saw Chase. Was he here to buy flowers too? Is he also going to see Mom?
Because Tracy was seated inside, partially obscured by flower arrangements, Chase didn’t immediately notice her presence. Chase walked in, carrying a box of mango cake. He told the clerk, “Please wrap a bouquet of flowers for my sister, thank you.”
Hearing Chase’s words, Tracy felt as if a bucket of cold water had been dumped on her, chilling her from head to toe, down to her bones. It turned out I was overthinking it. She thought Chase, like her, remembered that the third anniversary of their mother’s death was in a few days. She thought he was also going to see their mother, but she hadn’t expected him to be buying flowers for Yvonne.
How ironic! They probably had long forgotten their mother’s death anniversary, and wouldn’t even remember the exact date of the third anniversary. After all, they hadn’t shown up for the anniversary the previous two years. The first year, they claimed to be on an out-of-town. business trip and couldn’t rush back. The second year, Faye had gone abroad for surgery, and they were busy taking care of her and couldn’t return. When she asked them why they didn’t come back, they said things like, Why should a dead person be more important than a living one? Tracy only found it laughable. These were the two ungrateful wolves her mother had risked her life twice to give birth to!

After paying, Chase turned around and saw Tracy. He immediately rushed over and grabbed Tracy’s arm.
Chase questioned her instantly. “Tracy, why are you instigating Sam to cancel our partnership? What good does that do you?” He truly hadn’t expected that after Tracy hooked up with Sam, the first thing she would do was go after the Xander family. Although he didn’t know how Tracy had managed to hook up with Sam, it certainly wasn’t through legitimate
means.

He had to admit, Tracy’s tactics were indeed clever, manipulating two such excellent men in the palm of her hand. The only fortunate thing was that Chandler hadn’t been fully swayed by her. Otherwise, Yvonne would be devastated. How could she possibly be Tracy’s opponent?
Thinking this, Chase sneered. “Tracy, don’t think you can relax just by relying on men. You’re being ambiguous with the Johnson family heir on one side, and you’re involved with Sam on the other. Are you that desperate for men? One isn’t enough? You’re juggling two lovers. Aren’t you afraid of losing everything? Do you think rich men are all fools? He became angrier the more he spoke, then paused and shouted at Tracy, “You hook up with Sam and immediately rush to target our Xander family. How could we have an ungrateful sister like you?
