The Dream–Weaver Fens had already become unstable after two spirit–bound realms collapsed. One blasted apart by Linda, the other by Claudio.
And with a single slash, Laura tore apart the final support.
Everyone heard the rumbling and saw the cracks in the sky spreading wider and wider. It was as if darkness was falling. The light vanished in an instant, plunging everything into shadow.
Only the gleam of Laura’s sword cut through the darkness!
There was no hint of backing down in Laura’s eyes. She had just one thought. Anyone who messed with Linda was asking for a beating!
‘I’ll smash them!‘ Laura’s determination burned even brighter.
And right then, her sword aura kept stacking up! Everyone was stunned.
Just then, Matthew couldn’t take it anymore. He coughed up a mouthful of blood.
Laura’s sword aura was so overwhelming that, for a moment, it felt like she was at the peak Gilded Phase, not Matthew. But that strike had already shattered the limits of the Gilded Phase.
It carried the might of an Astral Sovereign!
Matthew couldn’t hold out any longer. The sword aura exploded, hammering him deep into the earth. Toney and Marietta gasped, faces drained of color as they shouted, “Matthew!”
Toney yelled, “Earth Spirit, shield!”
The ground trembled as spiritual energy surged to Matthew’s side, throwing up a powerful barrier. Toney dashed over, shielding Matthew with everything he had.
Marietta snapped out of her angry stubbornness, nocked an arrow, and drew the string, aiming right at Laura.
Seven arrows flew at Laura in a blur.
Rafael snatched up a rock. “You bastard!”
He poured his spiritual energy into the stone and hurled it with pinpoint accuracy, smashing three of the arrows out of the air. Seeing this, Craig charged forward. Trees began to sprout around him as he moved.
“Fall!” Craig yelled.
In an instant, countless trees burst from the earth, forming a dense, spiked barricade in front of Laura. Every branch bristled with thorns, slick with purple poison.
As soon as they appeared, all the nearby plants shriveled up, and even the water arrows flying at Laura got eaten away by the
toxic aura.

Everyone drew a sharp breath, stunned.
“That’s Wood Affinity!”
“It’s a mutated Wood Affinity!”

“Poison!”

“Damn!”
Nobody ever thought Craig, who always looked so neat and harmless, would have such a wild technique. The trees he summoned were like freaky tree monsters, covered in pale purple poison and bristling with thorns.
They were going wild, branches and thorns thrashing everywhere. It totally clashed with his usual gentle image.
Craig stood guard beside Rafael and Laura, his expression icy and sharp. He never liked using his powers in public, but if anyone tried to mess with them, he’d step up.
Honestly, he avoided using it because the area of effect was massive and hard to control. But right now, he didn’t care!
Linda was already back on her feet. She stared at Claudio, her face saying it all. “Why’d you suddenly step in?”
She had her own way to make Matthew suffer.
Claudio was still sitting there, looking up at Linda with a soft chuckle. “Because I can’t stand seeing you get hurt, Linda.”
Linda just stared at him, speechless.
Her expression got even more complicated. “Are you seriously going to do this?”
That was not the kind of thing they’d ever say to each other.
To her, it just made Claudio sound weirdly sarcastic.
Claudio saw Linda’s expression and realized she wasn’t joking. His smile faded, and for a moment, his eyes turned deep and distant. He turned his head and said quietly, “I thought I was still dreaming.”
She
got it now.
‘Wow, that new dream really left a mark,’ she thought.
She held out her hand.
Claudio frowned. “What are you doing?”
Linda said coolly, “Get up. You can’t just sit there while Laura’s out there fighting for us.”
Claudio looked at her hand, then got to his feet by leaning on a tree instead.
Linda saw this, withdrew her hand, and walked away without another word.
Claudio brushed off his hand, about to reach out, only to find that Linda was already gone.
‘Man, she’s ruthless, he thought.
Matthew was seriously wounded by that blow, and Laura was left exhausted after unleashing her devastating sword aura. Both of them were worse for wear, but Matthew definitely took the brunt of it.
The sky was split between darkness and light, the whole Veil caught in a clash of night and day.
Where they stood, the darkness was jagged and broken, like the world itself had been torn apart.

Chapter 63
It was so dark they couldn’t even see their hand in front of their face.
Linda rushed over to Laura, sending a surge of spiritual energy her way. “Laura, you alright?”
Laura nodded. “Yeah, I’m good. Just haven’t had a proper meal. Kinda starving.”
She’d packed a bunch of snacks when she came in, but with a whole month to survive, she’d been making them last, just nibbling a little at a time.
Honestly, she’d never really gotten to eat her fill.
Linda grinned and said gently, “Let’s find somewhere to eat later. I’ve got plenty of snacks myself.”
Laura grinned and nodded hard. “Alright!”
“Hurry up! This part of the Veil’s about to collapse!” someone shouted.
Laura’s sword ripped the whole place in half, and the darkness overhead was spreading like wildfire. Seeing that, Neil and Homer didn’t even think twice. They just turned and ran.
In an instant, everyone was freaking out, just trying to save their own skin.
Linda tried to piggyback Laura, but Laura shook her head. “I’m good, Linda. I can walk myself.”
Linda wouldn’t take no for an answer. She just hoisted Laura onto her back anyway.
Rafael said, “I’ll use Spell–Bladed Flight.”
Craig shook his head. “No way. The space overhead is way too unstable. If we try Spell–Bladed Flight, we’ll get swept up in the turbulence. We’ll have to leg it.”
Linda waved her hand, sketching out four Quickstep Charms. Four streaks of light wrapped around their feet, Claudio included.
“Let’s go!” Linda shouted.
Suddenly, their feet felt feather–light. Rafael took one step and practically flew forward, covering dozens of yards in an
instant.
Rafael gaped in shock. He exclaimed, “This is even faster than the Gale–Storm Incantation!”
Linda, with Laura on her back, caught up. “This only lasts about fifteen minutes. Just keep up with me.”
With that, Linda took the lead, not sparing Matthew or Marietta a single glance. Rafael was still fuming. “We shouldn’t have let them off so easy.”
Craig knew better. He said, “It’s not that we’re scared to throw down, but if we really get into it, it’ll drag on forever. By the time we’re done, the Veil will have collapsed, and none of us will make it out. No way I’m risking my neck for them.”
After a pause, Craig added, “Don’t get too worked up. I still left them a little something to remember us by.”
Rafael’s eyes lit up. “What is it?”
“Something good,” Craig replied, a sly grin tugging at his lips.
Rafael knew right away. He thought it must be poison.

Chapter 68
Claudio gave Craig a long look, his eyes looking a little red.
Craig seemed to pick up on it and glanced back at him. “I will remember to get revenge for you.”
Claudio’s lips tightened, then he suddenly picked up the pace, overtaking them both. “You should worry about yourself first.”
Craig scratched his head. “Why’s he suddenly so pissed?”
Rafael rolled his eyes. He was about to tease Claudio a bit, but then remembered how Claudio had taken a hit for Linda. He let it go. ‘Guess he’s just got a short fuse,’ he thought.
But at least he wasn’t a bad guy. As far as Rafael was concerned, anyone who looked out for Linda was alright in his eyes.
Meanwhile, back in the woods where Linda and the crew had just left, that venomous ooze kept spreading, soaking into the earth and slithering its way up Toney’s earth wall.
The toxic sludge seeped into the ground, inching up Toney’s barrier bit by bit.
Toney could feel his spiritual energy getting corroded, his face going ghostly pale. Still, he gritted his teeth and hauled Matthew out of the pit.
Marietta came running over, sobbing uncontrollably. “Toney, Matthew…”
When she saw the state they were in, the tears just poured down even harder.
She’d never seen them hurt this badly before.
