Lyra was lounging on Jake’s bed when she sensed something was wrong. Juno stirred with unease, prompting Lyra to sit up. She focused on the sensation and realized it was Jake. His emotions were pulsing through the mate bond, strong enough to raise the hairs on the back of her neck.
She stood when the bedroom door flew open.
Jake stood there, chest heaving, face flushed and damp with sweat, as if he had sprinted the entire way, which, she realized, was entirely possible. His eyes were pitch black, a muscle ticking in his jaw as he stared at her.
“Jake?” She took a tentative step forward and froze.
He crossed the room in a few strides, grabbing her around the waist and spinning them both onto the bed, Lyra pinned beneath him.
“Jacob,” she whispered.
His eyes flickered, the blackness softening just enough for him to ease back slightly, giving her space to slide her arms out from under him. She reached up, pushing his damp hair off his forehead and gently wiping sweat from his brow.
“What happened?” she asked softly.
“I…” He swallowed hard. “I don’t want to talk about it yet.”
She nodded. “Okay.”
“Dinner went poorly,” he murmured.
“I guessed as much. Probably a good thing I didn’t go.” She traced her finger along the rough line of his jaw.
“Yeah. Probably.” He sighed, burying his face in the curve of her neck. “Kylie was there.”
“Oh.” She tried not to wince at the jealousy flaring in her chest.
“She said something about being Luna and I…” His voice cracked, muffled against her skin. “I lost it. I made her cry. I feel like an ass.”
“I’m sure she’ll understand,” Lyra said gently. “She had a mate once, right?”
He nodded, still pressed against her.

Eventually, he lifted his head. She was relieved to see his eyes had lightened, the green starting to show again.
“I only want you.”

“I know that,” she replied, because she did. He had done nothing but prove it to her all week.
He kissed her then, sweet and slow, full of feeling. She tangled her fingers in his hair, holding him close and grounding him.
Jake’s kiss deepened, his body pressing against hers with growing urgency. His weight, the warmth of him, the way his hands cradled her hips. Everything made her heart race and her breath catch.
Her fingers slid under the hem of his shirt, trailing over the hard ridges
omach. He
groaned softly against her mouth, his hips rolling once before he pulled back just enough to look at her.
“Lyra…” His voice was hoarse. “Tell me to stop.”
She cupped his face, her thumb brushing over his cheek. “I’m not going to.”
His gaze searched hers. “I want you to be ready. To be sure.”
She smiled, her cheeks flushed. “I’m ready. This is your enthusiastic yes. I want this. I want you.”
He groaned, his eyes darkening with desire. He surged forward, kissing her hard, like he had been starving for her.
“We have to go slow,” he whispered against her lips, his voice trembling. “Tell me if anything doesn’t feel good and I’ll stop.”
She didn’t want to stop. Instead, she pulled his face back to hers and kissed him deeply. His tongue swiped against her lips and she opened for him, tasting the salt on his tongue.
He tugged her shirt up and off, then unclasped her bra. Once her top half was bare, he pushed her gently back on the bed, trailing kisses down her neck, licking and nipping along her sternum before pulling one n****e between his teeth.
She groaned, arching into his touch as he teased one breast while palming the other. He switched sides, drawing another moan from her. Slowly, he kissed his way down her body, his fingers skimming her skin until he reached the waistband of her jeans. He tugged them down, pulling her panties with them.
When she was fully bare, he leaned back to look at her, his gaze drinking her in slowly.

He scooted lower, pressing slow kisses along the inside of her thighs until he reached her core. He lifted one of her knees over his shoulder and leaned in, licking her slowly. Lyra threaded her fingers into his soft brown hair, tugging roughly as he nibbled at her clit before licking down to her center.
“Jake,” she gasped, her body winding tight.
“I love how you say my name,” he rumbled, his breath hot against her skin.
He sucked her clit between his lips while sliding two fingers inside her. She arched, pushing
nsitive nub while her hips against his face as she tugged at his hair. His tongue worked hr his fingers curled slightly, hitting a spot that made her cry out.
She came hard, stars bursting behind her eyes as her body trembled under him. He continued to lick her gently until she sagged back onto the bed, wrung out and panting.
Jake looked up from between her legs, his green eyes shining, his chin slick with her arousal. He kissed his way up her body, along her navel, over her breasts, up her throat.
“You’re wearing too much,” she whispered, realizing he was still fully clothed.
He chuckled, low and rough, then pulled away to strip quickly. When he returned to her, warm and bare, she gasped at the feel of him and wrapped her arms around his shoulders.
Jake kissed her again, slowly and reverently. She could still taste herself on his lips. He moved down to the sensitive spot under her ear, and by the time his mouth returned to hers, she was trembling, her legs wrapping around his waist.
“Still good?” he murmured against her cheek.
She nodded, arching her hips until his tip pressed against her entrance. “Yes.”
He paused, lifting his head. “Look at me.”
She met his gaze, his emerald eyes burning into hers as he slowly pushed inside. Her breath hitched and her fingers clutched at his arms, but she didn’t look away.
It burned, sharp and sudden. She gasped, biting her lower lip. He watched her carefully as he continued easing in.
Jake stilled once he was fully inside, his forehead resting against hers. “You okay?”
“Yes,” she breathed, and she meant it. She was so full she could hardly think. The stretch was intense, equal parts pain and pleasure.

He stayed still, propped on his forearms, breathing through his nose as he studied her face.
“You feel incredible,” he whispered, kissing her softly. “I need to move. Are you ready?”
She kissed him again and nodded.
“Tell me if it’s too much.” He pulled out slowly, then pushed back in. It still burned, but under it was something else. A delicious pressure that made her shift beneath him, craving more.
He moved with care, watching her closely. After a minute, the ache gave way to something deeper, something that sent tingles dancing across her skin.
“Faster,” she whispered, digging her heels into his backside.

“Look at me,” Jake growled. “Look at me when I’m inside you.”
Her eyes flew open, locking with his as he drove deeper.
“You’re mine,” he said. “You’re mine and I’m yours.”
She nodded, breathless.
“Say it.”
“I’m yours,” she gasped, “and you’re mine.”
“Good.” He pulled back to glance down between them. “Look at you.” He thrust hard. “You were made for me.”
He hooked one of her legs over his shoulder, his other hand sliding between them to circle
her clit.
“Jake!” she cried out, arching into him.
“Look at me when you come,” he said, his voice commanding, his thumb moving in sync with his hips.
She did. And when she came again, it was with a cry that shattered her, her body trembling beneath him. He followed moments later, her name leaving his lips as he spilled inside her.
He collapsed against her, pressing her into the mattress as he buried his face in her neck.
“Goddess,” he whispered, kissing her damp skin.

After a moment, he rolled to the side and pulled her with him, settling her head on his chest.
“You okay?” he asked, his voice raw.
Lyra smiled and trailed her fingers along the ridges of his abs. “More than okay.”
He kissed the top of her head. “You’re everything, Lyra.”
She snuggled closer. “So are you.”
