Logan snapped out of his shock immediately. He looked at the striking girl in front of him, glanced around, and hurriedly laid his teammate on her bed.
“Wait–put him on the floor,” Iris said.
Logan froze.
She was dismissing their captain.
To put it in perspective, their captain, Damon Flint, had been recognized as the top idol of the Eastern Military District before the apocalypse, with a rock–solid background.
His grandfather had been a top general in the Eastern Military
District.
And this was the first time Logan had ever seen someone brush off their captain like this.
Iris‘ bunker was long, with the back area sealed off as storage. She had Logan place Damon on the floor near the door.
“Our captain took a bullet to the abdomen. The bullet didn’t stay inside, and he’s got multiple slash wounds. Are you really sure you can handle this?”

clothes with a few quick moves. Ten years of fighting through the apocalypse had made small–scale surgical aid second
nature to her.
Previously, she hadn’t had miraculous healing drugs. Usually she just applied hemostatics and anti–inflammatories, leaving the rest to the body’s own resistance. Survival or death was entirely a gamble.
Now, she flipped her hand, pretending to take a small vial from her pocket, but in reality, she pulled it from her space stash.
An emergency recovery pill.
With a miracle drug like this, not even the Grim Reaper could touch him.
Iris glanced at the gift pack she had received from the last crystal core exchange.
One single emergency pill was worth a hundred points!
If it weren’t for needing to get Logan settled, she wouldn’t have spared it.
Logan saw the medicine in her hand. He opened his mouth to
ask something, but in the end, not a word came out.
He simply stared at Iris. 2/6

Right now, trusting her was his only option.
Logan stood tensely to the side, watching Iris work.
He saw her feed a white pill to their captain, then start cleaning the wounds.
She meticulously removed the dirt and decayed flesh, then quickly applied a fine powder–seemed like a hemostatic.
After that, she wrapped the injuries carefully with bandages.
By the time Iris had mostly finished, Logan saw Damon’s eyelashes flutter, and with a cough, the captain actually woke
- up.
Logan was surprised.
“Captain!”
“Let him rest a bit.” Iris gestured for him to stay back.
Logan immediately stopped in his tracks and nodded seriously.
“Once he fully wakes up, there shouldn’t be any problems,” Iris said as she stood.
Logan looked at the girl in front of him, and with a bow, he said, “Miss, from now on, my life is yours.”

“Good,” Iris said, satisfaction in her gaze.
Logan had been her most loyal subordinate in her past life. She knew that destiny had changed and he couldn’t be exactly the same as before, but human nature didn’t change.
She knew him well enough to trust that his words were a lifelong promise.
“I’m Iris Hale. Just call me Iris from now on.
Logan hesitated for a moment, then said resolutely, “Yes, Iris!”
The moment the words left his mouth, a notification popped up in Iris‘ mind.
“Beep–Base Guard +1 detected!
“Reward: 1000 points! One set of combat armor! Base defense increased by 10%! Base guard special attributes replicated!
Iris let out a small “wow“.
She could feel her base being reinforced in ways invisible to the naked eye.
And more–she felt a shift of water within her.
She remembered Logan was a water–type metahuman. 4/6

It looked like she had gained a new power.
Iris was over the moon.
This time, she was absolutely certain–any metahuman she accepted into her territory, she would gain their powers.
She looked at Logan in front of her, and the more she looked, the more she treasured him.
Logan was such a fine young man.
He was a real gem!
Her eyes burned with intensity as she said, “Take off your clothes.”
Logan froze.
Meeting her fiery gaze, his usually cold face flushed with embarrassment, the red creeping all the way down to his neck.
For a moment, he felt like a helpless girl at someone else’s
mercy.
Already? So soon?
He started unbuttoning slowly, painfully aware of how shy he
felt.

“Come on, hurry up!” Iris urged.
She turned and retrieved a fresh set of gauze and alcohol from the cabinet, along with the combat suit she’d just obtained and a First Aid Injector. When she turned back, she saw Logan still struggling with the second button, twisting and fumbling like a kid.
Seeing the items in her hands, Logan stammered, “Miss… Iris, you… you’re going to…”
