Derek and the others stared at her with wide eyes.
Just then, the bunker door swung open and a cold but pleasant male voice cut through the air.
“Ms. Hale, I appreciate the offer.”
Iris turned around and saw a young man walking out of her bunker. His clothes were torn to shreds and he was wrapped in bandages all over.
The second they saw him, every single one of the big guys jumped to their feet and rushed over.
“Captain!”
“Captain!”
“Captain!”
Only Logan stayed behind.
He looked at Damon with joy and excitement in his eyes, thrilled to see his captain recovered, but he didn’t move from Iris‘ side.

“Thank you for taking care of my men while I was injured. I’m grateful.”
Iris stood up slowly and waved a hand dismissively. “Don’t just give me empty thanks. If you’re really grateful, show me something real. Your guys have been eating and drinking at my place for four days straight. Time to pay up.”
Everyone’s jaws dropped.
“Captain, don’t listen to her! We’ve been busting our asses working for her nonstop these past few days!”
“Everything we ate and drank, we earned through labor! We didn’t mooch off her for free!”
“Ahem!” Iris cleared her throat loudly and glared at these ungrateful bastards. “You’ve got some nerve saying that. Do you realize what kind of world we’re living in? If I hadn’t taken you in, you could work yourselves to death and nobody would give you a meal!”
Everyone fell silent. Even the most heartless capitalists and landlords from the old days weren’t as ruthless as Iris!
Was she even listening to herself? But every single one of them was too angry to speak up. Faced with Iris‘ iron–fisted dominance, they could only hide behind Damon.

Damon looked mildly surprised at how thoroughly his squad had been tamed. He turned to Iris. “I’ll compensate you with supplies as thanks for saving us.”
“When?”
“When we get back to base.”
“Can’t wait that long!” Iris held out her hand directly. “No
credit!”
“But we don’t have much on us right now.”
“Figure it out yourself. If you want to leave my place, you need to pay the exit fee first!”
Everyone’s eyes went wide. This was highway robbery!
They were seething with anger and wanted to throw down with her right there, but this was Iris they were dealing with. They had to swallow their rage! Damon’s expression remained completely neutral throughout.
He thought for a moment, then asked, “Where’s my backpack?”
“Right here, boss!” Derek handed it over.
Damon opened the bag and pulled out a sealed plastic bag filled with transparent, glittering crystals.

“Will this work?”
Crystal cores!
Iris‘ eyes lit up instantly. She snatched what looked like 30 or 40 crystal cores right out of his hand. “Alright, fine. I guess that’s barely enough! You can go now!”
Damon’s eyes flickered with interest when he saw Iris snatch the bag from his grip so easily. Her speed and strength were way beyond normal. This woman was definitely not ordinary.
He didn’t say anything more and gathered himself. He looked around at his team. “We should head back. Everyone grab your stuff. We’re leaving now!”
“Yes, sir!”
Derek and the other four immediately grabbed their backpacks and started packing up.
Damon looked over at Logan, who hadn’t moved an inch. “Logan, why aren’t you getting ready?”
“Captain, he can’t go with us!” Derek was the first one with his pack strapped on as he walked over.
“He belongs to Iris now!” Brett’s leg had healed up and he was

Damon’s brows furrowed immediately.
“Captain, Logan sold himself to Iris Han to save your life,” Tyler explained.
“If Iris hadn’t taken an interest in him back then, we probably
wouldn’t have made it,” Blake added.
“That’s right,” the others confirmed.
The more Damon heard, the more shocked he became and the deeper his frown got. Logan reached into his pocket and pulled out his badge. “Captain, I can’t go back with you.”
“Special Forces C1 Squad, Logan!” Damon shouted.
Logan stood at attention and snapped off a crisp salute.
Damon looked at him with a hard expression. “Return to formation!”
“Hey, he’s my guy now. Who the hell do you think you’re ordering around?”
Damon turned to face Iris. “Ms. Hale, I will repay the debt I
owe you, but I’m taking all my men with me. Not a single one
gets left behind!”

“Crystal cores! One hundred of them!” Damon said coldly.
“Not trading!”
“One thousand!”
“I don’t care how many you offer, the answer’s still no!”
While the two of them were locked in this standoff, Logan spoke up, “Captain Flint! I’m staying here by choice.”
