Chapter 54 Commandeering the Armored Vehicle
Iris knew she didn’t stand a chance against a Level 2 mutant zombie, not on her own.
Even in her previous life, Level 2 mutants had been seriously powerful threats.
For regular people, Level 2 was basically the upper limit of what they could handle in a fight. Anything Level 2 or higher metahumans to take down, and even then, those ability users needed to be Level 2 or above themselves.
Sure, Iris had gained superpower in this life, but she’d only just awakened them recently. She was still a beginner–level metahuman, and her control was shaky at best. There was no way she was going to risk a direct
confrontation.
They needed to run first and regroup later!
Logan heard what she said but his feet kept moving. “Iris, you start the engine and I’ll hook up the trailer! I can
keep up!”

He couldn’t stand the thought of going back empty–handed. This was the fuel Iris needed, and he had to bring at least some of it back for her.
Iris wanted to curse him out but held it back. This idiot had no idea she’d already siphoned off most of the fuel
anyway!
She slammed her foot down on the clutch and her fingers flew across the dashboard, hitting switches and buttons until the armored vehicle roared to life.
Another cloud of dust exploded into the air as the Level 2 mutant lunged straight at Logan. He rolled smoothly to the side and in one fluid motion, pulled his gun from the holster on his back.
Three shots rang out in rapid succession. Every single bullet hit the mutant zombie, and one even nailed it right in the forehead. But this mutant was completely different from regular zombies. It was completely unfazed!
“You idiot! Level 2 zombies don’t die unless you blow their brains apart! Get in the damn truck!” Iris shouted.
Logan didn’t hesitate after hearing that. In three quick

She was flying, but the mutant zombie was just as fast.
After getting stabbed through, it went absolutely berserk and charged after them with even more fury. It kept ramming into the heavy armored vehicle over and over, but couldn’t even dent the thing.
This was a system–rewarded combat vehicle, built on a completely different level than regular trucks.
When the zombie realized it couldn’t catch Iris directly, it launched itself onto the fuel tanker they were towing. The massive weight made the tanker swing wildly from side to side, and the force yanked the armored truck off course.
Iris‘ big rig smashed through the median barrier and plowed into several cars before slamming into the guardrail on the opposite side.
She sent multiple sedans flying off the overpass. Her armored truck’s front wheels went right over the
guardrail, and half the vehicle’s front end hung out over empty air.
Their view suddenly shifted to a sideways angle as the
truck dangled halfway off the elevated highway Below3:22 pusl

and tried to back the truck up, but the front wheels just spun uselessly in the air. They weren’t getting any
traction.
“Logan, can you handle the cannon?”
Logan had been watching Iris‘ moves carefully. His expression was dead serious as he nodded. “Yeah, I got
it.”
“You take over, I’m going out to lift the truck.”
Iris unbuckled her seatbelt. When Logan realized she was planning to physically lift the vehicle, his eyes went wide. This armored truck weighed several tons!
“Iris! I’ll go!”
“Stay put! You can’t lift it!”
Logan stared at her, speechless.
He couldn’t lift it, so how the hell was Iris supposed to? But before he could argue, the ground started shaking again. The display screen showed the Level 2 zombie coming back for another round.

Logan immediately took over Iris‘ control panel and mimicked the operations he’d just seen her perform.
This vehicle was incredibly advanced with functions he’d never encountered before, but he was special forces. He knew weapons and mechanical systems inside and out. One demonstration was all he needed.
Another stream of fire roared out from the cannon.
He hit the Level–2 zombie again, and flames engulfed its entire body, forcing it back step by step. He and Iris worked together seamlessly, and he provided cover so she could land safely on the ground.
His mind was racing. Iris had said she was going down there to lift the vehicle, but she was just one woman. How could she possibly…
That was when the armored vehicle beneath him actually started lifting up.
