Chapter 67 This Place Was Hers Now
Her words made the two girls hesitate, but one mustered her courage and insisted, “No! We still want to go home!”
Iris didn’t press further, her tone turning cold. “Go, then.”
Relieved, the two girls glanced at Iris and Logan before hurrying to the wall ladder.
The others wanted to stop them but held back, watching silently as they left.
Of the eighteen survivors, sixteen chose to stay.
Once their allegiance was pledged, system notifications echoed in Iris‘ mind.
“Ding–Detected 16 residents joining. Rewarded 1600 points!
“Ding–Detected 2 Strength–type talent users! Rewarded special attributes!
“Ding–Detected 1 Speed–type talent user! Rewarded special attributes!”
Three metahumans were among the sixteen.

endless surge of strength immediately coursed through her
veins.
To Iris‘ delight, the system stacked duplicate superpowers— doubling their effects instead of treating them as one.
This batch of residents brought her 1600 points and three new superpowers, exceeding her expectations.
Satisfaction crossed her face as she looked at her new residents.
Once the system confirmed their status, their gazes softened, filled with admiration and closeness.
“You may call me Ms. Hale from now on,” she told them.
“Yes, Ms. Hale!” they replied warmly in unison.
Iris scanned the scattered zombies. “Everyone, listen up. Cut open their heads and collect what’s inside.”
She sliced open a zombie’s skull, prying out a grain–sized crystal core with her blade tip.
Eyes lit up at the sight.
“The more you collect and hand over, the better your reward,” Iris added, spurring them into action.

After assigning the task, Iris turned to Logan. “Clear out all zombies inside the factory.”
“Yes, Ms. Hale!”
She led him to the rooftop entrance, where a thick iron chain secured the metal door–barely holding back zombies packed like sardines inside.
Guttural roars poured through a fist–sized gap, growing frantic at the sight of Iris and Logan.
Iris swung her blade at the chain, which snapped with a sharp clang.
Zombies burst out like caged beasts, only to be met by a powerful high–pressure water jet.
The jet scattered into bullet–sized droplets on impact, each striking with the force of a real bullet.
Wet squelches filled the air as every charging zombie fell.
Any other metahuman would be left speechless–it was simply overpowered.
Most could only conjure small water balls, fireballs, or clumps of earth.

Even Dana, who’d confronted Iris earlier, was considered a strong metahuman.
Logan, however, summoned high–pressure jets effortlessly and manipulated water at will–control on par with a Level 3 metahuman.
This power came from the evolution liquid Iris gave him daily, enhanced with no side effects.
By the time other bases promoted evolution liquid, Iris and Logan would be far ahead in strength.
What was more, other formulas carried numerous side effects, leaving their users outmatched.
Logan took the lead, taking down every zombie emerging from the stairwell.
Iris stood lazily beside him, stepping in only to finish stragglers.
The stairwell was soon cleared.
She reminded Kevin’s group to collect crystal cores from the stairwell before leading Logan downward.
Her plan was to clear the factory entirely, claim it as her territory, and mark it as her own.

processing.
This place was hers now.
Upon reaching the third floor, Iris‘ mental power tingled.
Through her mind’s eye, she detected an energy signature ten times stronger than that of ordinary zombies.
“Stop!” she ordered, and Logan froze instantly.
A loud crash echoed as the security door ahead of Logan was smashed open.
A zombie with a gaping, bitten–through abdomen stumbled into view–its pale gray eyes holding a faint glimmer of intelligence, unlike other undead.
Another one–a Level 3 zombie.
