Chapter 9
Seeing my silence, Damon assumed I was refusing him. Using his last reserves of strength, he clutched desperately at the hem of my robes.
“Give me one final chance. Let me protect you forever and always… Even if it’s just to atone for my sins, as long as I can stay by your side, I’m willing!”
Every full moon, I dedicated my entire being to the Moon Goddess, listening to her divine guidance.
Half a month ago, she had bestowed upon me the knowledge of how to transform werewolves into the undead.
Even then, the Moon Goddess had foreseen everything that would come to pass…
As the light in this man’s eyes dimmed inch by inch, I knelt down to meet his gaze directly.
“I promise you, as the leader of all werewolves, that you will become a hero to our entire race.”
Damon smiled-a devastatingly sad expression. “No. I don’t want to be a hero to the werewolf race. I only want to protect you forever and always.”
I didn’t answer him. But he would achieve his heart’s desire.
What I hadn’t expected was that Serena would betray our entire species out of revenge against me. By the time I arrived to capture her, she had already fled.
No matter. Once the werewolves achieved victory, that bitch would have no place to hide anywhere in this world!
Three days later, a killing machine appeared on the battlefield between werewolves and vampires.
He felt no pain and possessed no emotions. His eyes burned with nothing but bloodthirsty killing intent.
He knew only one purpose-endless, tireless slaughter. The blood and flesh of others became his sustenance.
The vampire clans were routed completely, fleeing in panic.
As their leader, I seized this opportunity to press our advantage. I led our people in occupying all vampire territory.
The werewolf race had achieved total victory in this war.
Some pack members asked me privately about the wolf who had performed so magnificently in battle. Who was he? How could he be so powerful?
I could only remain silent. Damon’s final wish had been to protect me forever. I would respect that.
Only I remembered that before he became an undead war machine, his name had been Damon.
Soon I encountered Serena among the vampire clans!

As a traitor, she would never meet a good end!

She had betrayed her own people to join another species, but unfortunately, those who are not of our kind will always have different hearts-this truth applies everywhere.
When I found her, she was wearing barely any clothing, standing on a street corner soliciting customers.
Greasy hands roamed all over her body while she maintained a pleasing smile on her face.
The moment her eyes met mine, they erupted with intense hatred.
What right did she have to hate me? From beginning to end, she had brought this fate upon herself!
Unfortunately, such people never look for the cause within themselves. I couldn’t be bothered to waste words on her!
In the name of the Moon Goddess, I cursed Serena to never be reborn anywhere moonlight could touch, for all eternity.
I threw Serena’s flesh and blood into a snake pit. From that day forward, there would never again be a bitch named Serena in this world.
After the war ended, I led the werewolf race in rebuilding our homeland.
Soon the sadness was swept away as families could finally reunite.
But I had no family left.
I came to Lucas’s small grave. If he hadn’t died, he would be an adult now-perhaps one of the pillars of our werewolf society.
But there are no “what-ifs” in this world. I could only do my utmost to avenge him, hoping his spirit could let go of this unfortunate lifetime.
I looked at “Damon” kneeling before me, feeling no satisfaction in my heart-only endless sighs.
In this emotional battle, I had indeed won. Perhaps in many people’s eyes, I had become life’s ultimate winner.
But I had also lost my child forever and always.
The Moon Goddess said he would return to my side someday. So I would live well and wait for that miracle to happen.
