forward.
Max obviously hadn’t heard that Blake marked me.
“Vince, you’re hurting me,” I whined, trying to move away from
him.
“Shut up! Just shut up! Am I hurting you? You fuxking bitch! You
ripped my heart out multiple times, and I’m hurting you! I’ve been in
love with you since the first day I met you. I tried so hard to make you
go out with me, but no, you wouldn’t budge. When I finally got you to
say yes, I found your mother, and I couldn’t understand why you were
such a prude. All I wanted was for you to love me.” He yelled, shaking

“You tried to rape me! How is that love?!” I yelled back. My
shoulders were getting sore from his shaking.
“Whoa whoa whoa….. You did what now?” Max injected.
“I just wanted her to love me, okay! She wouldn’t give it up. Not to
me, not to Rocky, and now not even your brother! How much longer
are you going to keep us begging for you to drop your panties.”
“Max, please make him stop. Please! I’m begging you. Please get me
out of here,” tears sliding down my cheek.
“Oh fuck it!” Max said before dropping his gun. He closed his eyes
and lifted his hand.
“Nunc Vado ad somnum” he flicked his fingers, and Vince fell to the
ground.
I stumbled and fell on top of him. Max rushed over to me and pulled
me to my feet, holding me tightly,
“You okay?” He examined me and turned me around to open the
ropes.
“Yeah, I’m okay. What did you do to him?” I looked down at Vince
crumbled up on the floor. He twitched a little, and a little snore came

“Is that how you thank your rescuer?” He chuckled.
I felt my arms loosen and fall to my side. I stretched and massaged
my shoulder. Max bent down and opened the rope around my ankle.
“I’ve put him to sleep. He will wake up in a few hours” he stood
back up and threw the ropes on the ground.
I steadied myself and tried to find my balance. My knees got wobbly,
and I swayed a little. Max quickly grabbed me and wrapped one arm
around my waist, pulling me to his body.
“Easy, daisy. That eager to get into my arms, huh” he chuckled.
“Thank you. For saving me,” I started to feel faint. My body was
weak, and I was having a hard time keeping my eyes open.

“Uh–huh. Let’s get you back to my brother before he loses his mind.
As much as I would love to see that, I owe him one.” Max chuckled.
He looked down at me, and his eyes dilated a little. Maybe it was the
lighting playing games with me.
I had a piece of hair lying across my face. He reached out and tucked
it behind my ear, and caressed my cheek with his thumb.

The touch felt weird but wasn’t as repulsive as Blake made it out to
- be. He had said another man’s touch would make me nauseous, and
when Vince was holding me, I felt that sickening sensation. But with
Max, it wasn’t so bad.
His thumb went down my jawline, and he narrowed his eyes at me. I
felt him move a little, and his hands were on my shoulder, pulling the
collar of my shirt.
“What are you doing??” I started to panic, pushing myself away
from him slightly. He didn’t budge.
I saw his eyes widen, and he stared at my shoulder.
“Blake marked me,” I said softly. That’s what he was looking at,
right?
“When?” He said through a clenched jaw.
“A few days ago. Why?” My head spun, and I felt my knee give way.
Max pulled me hard against his chest and wrapped both arms
around me.
“You-… you okay?” His eyes softened, and he sounded concerned.
