“No. I want to go home. Where’s Blake?” I leaned into him. I knew it
was wrong, but I felt like I was going to pass out.
“He’s on his way. Come on,” he let me go, only to bend down and
scoop me into his arms bridal style.

I didn’t complain. I knew I couldn’t walk. I wrapped my arms around
his neck and leaned my head onto his shoulder.
Why was I so relaxed with him? He was the enemy.
“If you need to throw up, tell me, okay. This is an $800 jacket, and I
don’t want you ruining it.” His voice was echoing a little.
“Hmph,” I replied and let the darkness consume me.
““Don’t touch her!” Mum shouted. She struggled to get loose, but the
tall man holding her had her in an iron grip.
I took steps back as the sumo man approached me. My back hit a
wall, and I was trapped. I looked up and watched as the man’s lips

turned into an evil grin.
“Come here, mi amor. I just want to admire your beauty.” His thick
accent filled with the smell of booze and cigarette was a punishment
for my nose.
“NO! Stay away from her. Novo, you promised she would be left out
of this! Do whatever you want to me. Just me!” Mum screamed and
desperately tried to free herself.
Novo turned and slapped mum across the face. The noise echoed
through our apartment.
“See bitch. Now that wasn’t so hard, was it?! Remember this for next
time. You do as I want, or else, I will find the highest bidder for your
little lady.”
Mum was sobbing. She hung her head, and tears streamed down her
face.
The tall man pulled mum’s hair back, and Novo grabbed her throat.”
“MUM!!!” I screamed, thrashing around trying to save her.

I pressed the phone to my ear and listened to the ring.
“What’s wrong?! Is she okay?!…..” Blake answered. His voice laced
with anger and concern.
I cut him off quickly. “Blakey”
“Angel! Are you okay?! Oh god, I am so happy to hear your voice.
Please tell me you’re okay?!” His voice softened, and I could hear he
was pacing. I could imagine him walking around while running his
hands through his hair in frustarion.
“I’m okay, Blakey. Max saved me” I looked up at the carbon copy of
the man I loved. Max smirked but looked ahead.
“I know Angel. He’s going to bring you home okay. If he tries
anything funny, you tell me, and I’ll whip his ass!”
“He wishes he could whip my ass,” Max laughed.
“I’ll see you soon. I love you” Max’s eyes flickered to me when he
heard my words. He quickly masked it and turned away.
“I love you too, Angel. See you soon” He hung up.
I handed the phone back to Max and settled into my seat.

“Why did you come looking for me?” I asked. I leaned back and
crossed my arms.
“Why didn’t you ask your fiancé that question?” He sounded bitter.
I turned towards him. “I’m sorry I didn’t, but I’m asking you. Why
did you come?”
He sighed. “Because I could track you. Blake called as soon as he
knew you were missing. He asked if I could do a tracking spell and
find you. A few years back, he did me a favor, and he called in his IOU.
We’re even now.”
“Tracking spell? Like what witches do? You’re a witch?” Now, this
was news. Blake had never said that Max practices witchcraft.
