Chapter 85
The ride back to Mariners Bay was very quiet. It was 1 am by the time
we got home and I was shivering. I didn’t know if it was from the cold
or from the stress of everything I had just learnt. Blake was keeping a
close eye on me and I could see he was trying his best to keep his
distance.

Once we got back to the apartment, I darted for my room. I shut
door and headed for the shower. The solution to many of my
problems came from a hot shower. The hot water running down my
naked body, relaxing all my muscles and sending a soothing sensation
through my nerves was exactly what I needed right now.
I stripped off my clothes and got under the hot water, letting it
soak my hair as well. The water felt so good against my skin and
somewhere in the back of my mind, I wished Blake was in there with
- me. It sounded crazy to want him so close to me but everything right
now was crazy. I knew I wanted him, my body wanted him but a
werewolf?
I had only read about supernatural things in storybooks and seen
the hunky Jacob Black in Twilight. We’re all these things real? My
mind went back to Dwayne’s words “There is a possibility that your
a
father could have been a werewolf”

All these years I had never thought of him. I had never asked or
spoken about him but somehow this man that didn’t even know my
existence was becoming part of my present. There must be some
mistake. I mean I would have felt something or seen something that
madé me believe I was one of them but up till now, there was nothing.
I was human and I was sure of it.
The question remained, did I want to learn about Blake’s lifestyle?
Did I still want to be part of his supernatural world?
I turned off the shower and wrapped my towel around me. I patted
myself semi–dry and walked back into my bedroom. My throat was parched. I felt so dehydrated and drained from my hot shower. I looked around my room but my water bottles were empty.
It was 2:30 am now, Blake would have gone to sleep right? I slowly opened my bedroom door and peeked down the corridor. It was dark which meant Blake had gone upstairs. I quickly and quietly walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge to grab a bottle of water. The cold air hits exposed skin sending a shiver through me. I closed the
fridge and turned to head back to my room.
“Why exactly are you walking around in a towel?”
I jumped in panic. My heart was racing. Blake was sitting on the
stairs, blending into the dark.

“What the hell! Can you please not scare me like that?!” I held on
to my towel tightly.
Blake got up and walked down the stairs, flicking on the soft stairs
lights. The lights reflected off Blake’s bare chest. He was wearing
pyjama pants that sat low around his waist.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t realise you were still awake. Are you okay?” I
could see him scanning me.
I was very aware that beneath my towel, I had nothing on. I
clenched my bottle with one hand and my towel with the other. My
dirty mind really just wanted to let go of the towel and see what
Blake did.
“Yeah, I’m okay. Just needed some water.” I held up the bottle.
“Right. Okay, well, have a goodnight” he gave me a tight smile and started walking back up the stairs.
“Blake”
He turned to look at me.
“Can we talk after I get dressed?”

“Sure. Let me go get a t–shirt” he started to climb the stairs again.
Damn it. He looked good without one.
Once he disappeared up the stairs, I rushed into my room to pull
on my pyjamas. I braided my hair and drowned the bottle of water
like a fish out of the sea. When I got back to the living area, Blake was
sitting on the floor near the fireplace. He had lit it up and was
watching the orange and red flames dance together.

A blanket and pillow were sitting on the floor next to him. He
looked up at me as I got closer and patted the blanket. He brought
those for me.
