I watched the way he moved on his bike, the way he leaned into the turns and controlled the machine like it was an extension of his body.
He was beautiful and dangerous and mine, and watching him race again made something primal wake up inside me.
He looked back at me once and even though I couldn’t see his face I felt the connection between us pull taut.
It was more than just the mate bond, it was everything we’d been through together and everything we were to each other.
My body yearned for his in a way that had nothing to do with magic and everything to do with love and desire and need.
I pushed my bike harder, trying to catch up to him. He stayed just ahead of me but I could tell he was letting me get closer.
We raced like that for miles, me chasing him and him letting me almost catch him before pulling ahead again.
When he finally slowed down I pulled up beside him and we cruised side by side. He reached out and his hand found mine in the
space between our bikes.
Even through our gloves I felt the heat of his touch and it sent a shiver through me that had nothing to do with the wind.
We rode until the sun started to set, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink and purple.
love.
By then I was exhausted but in the best way possible, the kind of tired that comes from doing something you love with someone you
“My place?” Tristan asked through the helmet comm and his voice was rough with promise.
“Yeah,” I said and I couldn’t keep the want out of my voice.
We rode through town as the streetlights started to come on, taking the familiar route to Tristan’s apartment.
My whole body was buzzing with adrenaline and anticipation. Every time I looked over at him I felt the pull stronger, felt the need building inside me until it was almost painful.
When we pulled into the parking garage of his building, the rumble of the engines echoed off the concrete walls before dying into
silence.

We both got off our bikes and removed our helmets. Tristan’s hair was messy, sticking up in different directions from being confined, and his eyes were dark with desire.
When he looked at me I felt the air between us crackle with tension, my breath hitched at how intensely he was staring at me.

He didn’t say anything at first, just stood there looking at me like he was memorizing every detail of my face.
His chest was rising and falling faster than normal and I knew it wasn’t from the ride. The way his gaze moved over me, slow and deliberate, made heat pool low in my stomach.
He walked towards me slowly, taking his time, and I couldn’t move.
My feet felt rooted to the ground and my heart was pounding so hard I was sure he could hear it.
Each step he took made the anticipation build until I thought I might explode from the tension alone.
When he finally reached me, he didn’t touch me right away. He just stood there, close enough that I could feel the warmth radiating from his body, close enough that I had to tilt my head back to look up at him.
His eyes searched mine and I saw everything there, the love and the want and the need that mirrored what I was feeling.
“I’ve been wanting to do this all day,” he said, his voice low and rough in a way that made my knees weak.
“Then do it,” I whispered, barely able to get the words out.
His hands moved to my waist, slow and deliberate, his fingers spreading across my sides like he was savoring the feel of me beneath
his palms.
He pulled me against him, not roughly but with purpose, and I felt every line of his body press against mine. The contact sent electricity shooting through me and I gasped softly.
