Chapter 288
“I was thinking about doing something for the women, as an appreciation.” She said like she
remembered something.
“What did you have in mind?” I asked.
“A dinner maybe?” Sarah suggested. “We could host something nice, invite them all over, show
them how much we appreciate what they did.”
“I think that’s a great idea,” I said, warming to it immediately. “They deserve to be thanked and
celebrated for what they did.”
“We could do it here,” She said “Once things settle down a bit, maybe next weekend?”
“I think it’s a nice idea,” I agreed because it was the least we could do. “We’ll make a proper
meal, we can make it special.” I just pray this one doesn’t end the way the last one did.
“We should invite Derek too,” I said casually, watching Sarah’s reaction.
She looked at me with a knowing expression. “Derek specifically?”
“Well he’s part of this too,” I said, trying to sound innocent. “He was at the border fighting, he’s
been helping secure the house, it makes sense to include him.”
Sarah’s eyes narrowed slightly but she was smiling. “Athena, what are you up to?”
“Nothing,” I said, but I couldn’t help smiling back. “I just think it would be nice to have everyone
together.”
“Everyone including Kiara and Derek in the same room,” Sarah said pointedly.
“Is that a problem?” I asked.
“Why do you think I brought out the idea of a dinner?” My eyes shook,
“Ohh” I smiled.
“Don’t you think we reason alike, we should have been sisters” she said giggling.

I couldn’t help but feel a warm on my chest. It would have been nice to have her as an elder
sister.
14%
It would have been a blessing.
“So how do we do it? Do we put them in a room together and see what happens?” She asked
with a mischievous smile.
“We’d make them do same task like it was a coincidence” Serah nodded her head buying the idea
with a smile.
“Alright, we’ll invite Derek, but if they end up fighting at our dinner table, you’re the one explaining it to Orion.” We both burst out laughter at her words.
I knew she was joking but I responded anyways.
“Deal,” I said, excited about the plan now.
“Well then. It’s a good thing we’re giving them a little push,” She said with a mischievous smile.
I laughed again. “You think we’re being too obvious?”
“Probably,” Sarah said. “But sometimes people need a little push to deal with what they’re avoiding, and besides, we owe them all a proper thank you anyway so this way we’re killing two birds
with one stone.”
“That’s what I figured,” I said. “Thank them for saving our lives and maybe help two stubborn people figure out whatever it is they need to figure out.”
We talked for a while longer about pregnancy and motherhood and fear, Sarah shared stories from when she was expecting Lily and Liam, the worries she’d had, the way Orion had been overprotective to the point of being ridiculous.
“He wouldn’t let me lift anything heavier than a pillow,” she said with a laugh. “I had to remind him constantly that I was pregnant, not made of glass.”
“Tristan is already heading in that direction,” I said. “He tried to carry my purse for me the other
day.”

She laughed. “Get used to it, it only gets worse as you start showing, but honestly, it comes from
a good place, they just want to protect us and the babies.”
“I know,” I said. “And I love him for it even when it drives me crazy.”
Tristan and Orion came back about thirty minutes later, both of them looking satisfied about
something.
“What were you two doing?” Sarah asked suspiciously.
“Just guy stuff,” Orion said vaguely.
“Guy stuff,” Sarah repeated, not buying it.
“Don’t worry about it,” Orion said, leaning down to kiss her forehead.
I looked at Tristan who just shrugged and smiled, clearly they’d been up to something but weren’t going to tell us what.
