Chapter 3
My two brothers stared at me with faces like thunder.
“Charlotte, let me make this clear, we actually hold real power in the Group, and you’re still a
student. The ones who should get out are you.”
“Hey, what’s going on? Why is everyone just standing around? Why haven’t you taken your seats?” someone asked as a tall, distinguished middle–aged man pushed through the crowd.
He was William Lane, the Ironclad Group’s CEO, and my biological father.
He hurried over to Tiffany and gently brushed the tears from the corner of her eye.
“Tiffany, don’t cry,” he cooed. “Who bullied you?”
“Tell me and I’ll sort it out right now.”
Joseph pointed at me, furious. “Who else would dare lay a hand on Tiffany right under my nose but
that insolent brat, Charlotte?”
At his words, my father’s face darkened and he slapped me.
“Charlotte, how dare you act so presumptuous, abusing your connections to pick on Tiffany,” he
snapped.
“Get on your knees and apologize to Tiffany right now, or you can forget about your allowance for
the next year.
“}
I looked at my father, who was blaming me without understanding the situation, and felt nothing
but disappointment.
Sure enough, he was still the same as in my previous life, blindly favoring Tiffany with my two
brothers.
I’d seen this coming, but it still hurt, deep down.
I never understood before. I was his real daughter, while Tiffany was nothing more than a plaything
for my two brothers. Yet after my father met Tiffany, it was like he was under some kind of spell. He
doted on her like crazy.
It was especially after learning that both of my brothers had been keeping Tiffany as a mistress, my father flew into a rage. He whipped them both relentlessly for an entire day and night.

Seeing they were being whipped, I’d rushed to intervene, to defend them, but in the end, my father had mistakenly lashed out at me twice. The scars from those lashes still marked my arms today.
After that, my father stopped my brothers from keeping Tiffany and used his connections to send her to the best university in Althoria.
And then he told my brothers, if they really cared for Tiffany, they should compete fairly for her
hand. The one who married her would inherit his fortune.
In my past life, my father’s bizarre behavior had piqued my curiosity, so I secretly investigated Tiffany’s background. That was when I learned the truth, Tiffany turned out to be my father’s first love’s daughter.
She looked so much like her mother that when my father saw her for the first time, he recognized
her immediately.
The power of a lost first love was immense, just a face that resembled his first love was enough to
captivate him entirely.
What a tragedy for my mother, who had passed away, never knowing that my father had kept a woman in his heart all this time.
As I thought of this, I sneered at my father.
“I won’t apologize,” I said coldly. “But what about my two brothers? They claim Tiffany is their sister, the rightful heir of the Ironclad Group. Don’t you think you owe everyone an explanation?”
At that, Tiffany immediately cast a pitiful look at my father, knowing that he couldn’t stand seeing
her cry.
And sure enough, as soon as he saw Tiffany’s eyes fill with tears, he slapped me across the face
twice.
“Explain what? What they said is true. Tiffany is my beloved daughter, the heiress of the Ironclad
Group.”
I stared at my father as he lied to our faces and shouted, “William Lane, how can you justify this to my dead mother? Do you have the nerve to say that again with a clear conscience?”
He ignored my words, turning to my brothers instead.
“Throw this trash out. She’s been bullying your sister.”

As I looked at my father, cold and unfeeling, I felt a deep sense of mixed emotions.
So this was the man my mother loved for a lifetime?
This was the father I admired for eighteen years since childhood?
I thought my mother never expecting that after her death, the two sons she had taken in out of kindness would harm her precious daughter for the sake of a kept woman.
And that her own husband would not protect his flesh and blood, but instead cast his own daughter
out for the sake of his first love’s child.
In that moment, I felt nothing but pity for myself and my late mother.
I raised my head and met my father’s gaze. Coldly, I said, “This is my family’s Ironclad Group. You outsiders have no right to swagger around here.”
I made sure to emphasize “my family’s” loudly. The moment I finished, my father snapped, and he
ordered my brothers to pin me down so I couldn’t move.
“Your family’s?” He laughed mockingly. “That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard!”
Then he stepped behind me, yanked my hair, and slammed my forehead against the glass wall of
the hall.
“For years, I’ve been running the Ironclad Group. Why shouldn’t it be mine? Why can’t I decide who
inherits it?“”
I gritted my teeth, fighting back tears, and screamed firmly, “The Ironclad Group is my grandmother’s! I’m the only heir!”
“Bang! Bang! Bang!”
The moment I finished speaking, my head was slammed again against the glass wall.
My father shouted, “Charlotte, stop dreaming! I already earmarked the Ironclad Group for Tiffany as wedding gifts from the bride’s family last year! Whoever marries her will inherit the Ironclad
Group!”
His words stunned everyone in the hall, and their eyes toward Tiffany grew even more intense.
Just then, a sharp, elderly female voice rang out behind me.
“William, say that one more time if you dare. Who is the heir to the Ironclad Group?”
