Chapter 6
After my mother died, I had clung to my father and brothers even more. I treasured them, especially my father. He had become my emotional anchor and I followed his every word.
But in my past life, when my brothers and Tiffany had sent me to a psychiatric hospital, my father had done nothing to stop them. When he learned Tiffany had dissected me alive, he had not avenged me. Instead, he forgave her on behalf of me and supported Joseph’s plan to marry Tiffany into the family.
Now that I had reborn, and saw my father still blindly protecting Tiffany, I felt nothing.
I no longer cared for that false fatherdaughter affection. Thus, I told my grandmother about it once
I returned, and she had stood firmly by my side, hiring a lawyer and drawing up a formal severance agreement in advance.
When I stayed silent, my father snatched the paper off the floor and tore it into pieces.
“You actually want to cut ties with me?” he demanded. “Aren’t you afraid of making your mother sad in her grave?”
I met his outrage calmly and sighed. “When you sided with outsiders who bullied and beat me, were you afraid my mother would heartbreak in the afterlife?”
“When you and brothers let Tiffany impersonate me, were you afraid she’d cry in her grave?”
“Besides, you were the one who first brought up disowning me. I only did what you suggested.”
My words left him speechless. He turned grandmother behind me. “Do you agree with Charlotte doing this?”
My grandmother didn’t even look at him. She closed her eyes and pretended to doze.
She had never approved of my mother being with my father. In her eyes, he was just a penniless
nobody, unworthy of her talented daughter.

But my mother got pregnant before marriage, and with me growing inside her, she forced my grandmother to give in.
In the end, my grandmother had no choice but to agree and let my father marry into the family.
After my mother died, my father and my two brothers did many shameful things, and they even mistreated me for the sake of a kept woman. So my grandmother wanted me to be ruthless, to break

free from the relatives who had bullied me.
At that moment, my two brothers spoke in unison, “Dad, if the Montgomery family can’t accept Tiffany, then we’ll leave. We’ll take Tiffany with us and start our own business. We’ll carve out our
own future.”
At those words, I clapped my hands, smiling. “Perfect. I was worried you’d beg to stay and mooch off our family forever.”
“If you have any pride, leave my house and my company today.”
Their eyes were filled with hate, but neither of them dared lay a hand on me.
Tiffany and Thomas had schemed for money for so long. As soon as she heard my two brothers
suggesting to my father that they take her away from the Montgomery family, Tiffany immediately choked up, on the verge of tears.
“Charlotte, today was my fault. I apologize,” she said, forcing a shaky voice. “If you still aren’t
satisfied and want to blame William and my brothers, I will leave the Montgomery estate on my
own right now and never show my face in public again.”
“If that’s not enough, I’ll give my life for William and those two.”
As soon as she finished, my father and brothers‘ expressions softened with pity and guilt.
Watching Tiffany put on her act and play the wounded angel, I gave the signal to all the bodyguards.
My brothers tried to protect her, but they were no match for the security and were bound as well.
I had other ways of silencing a vain, golddigging woman like Tiffany.
I ordered the housekeepers to clear out Tiffany’s room and bring every luxury item from her vanity and walkin closet out into a pile. In front of her, we poured oil over the heap and set it alight, watching the designer clothes and bags burn to ash.
Tied and powerless, Tiffany could only watch as her dresses and bags went up in flames, screaming
and sobbing as the fire consumed them.
Seeing the woman who resembled his first love in such distress, my father cooed with concern,
“Tiffany, don’t cry. I’ll buy you new ones tomorrow.”
My grandmother could not stand it. She slapped my father across the face a few times. “William, I
have never seen a father so cruel. You neglect your own daughter and dote on a stranger.”

“I think Tiffany has bewitched you. Go to a church and get yourself right with God.”
My father remained maddened by his obsession, so I decided to tell him about the scheme Thomas and Tiffany had plotted for years.
