Chapter 7
Before I could say a word, Joseph immediately stepped forward to defend my father.
“Grandmother, it’s all mom’s fault. She spoiled and indulged Charlotte when she was alive, raising
her to be this arrogant and willful.”
“If she had changed her arrogant and domineering attitude sooner, and become as gentle and
graceful as Tiffany, maybe Dad and we would have spoiled her too.”
Oliver immediately picked up where Joseph left off.
“Charlotte, the reason Dad and I acted this way was to toughen you up and help you grow into a worthy heir to the company. You should try to understand our good intentions.”
As they shamelessly stood there defending their actions, I couldn’t help but sneer.
“So, according to you two, everything is my late mother’s fault? You two are blaming her for not teaching me properly?” I said, looking at them with disgust.
“You two are really shameless. My mother took you both in out of kindness, nurtured you, and gave
you a place in the company, and now, after she’s gone, you’re slandering her and bullying her only daughter?”
Seeing that my grandmother was ignoring them and I wasn’t buying into their manipulation, the
two brothers finally showed their true colors.
“Charlotte, are you sure you want to make enemies of us?”
I looked at them with contempt. “Don’t think that just because I used to regard you as brothers, I’m
afraid of you. Even if you want to fight with me, you won’t win.
“After all, my grandmother is the wealthiest woman in Althoria, and I’m now in charge of the Ironclad Group. What do you two, mere orphans, have to fight against me?” I added, looking them
up and down.
My father stared at me, disappointment written all over his face. “Charlotte! How can you be so
heartless to your own father and brothers? Aren’t you afraid of being condemned by the world?
Aren’t you afraid of being struck down by lightning?”
I shrugged, voice indifferent. “When you called Tiffany your daughter at the ceremony, and when
you and my two brothers beat me, we’re done.”

Seeing that my father and brothers were beyond saving, I decided not to explain the devious plot
that Thomas and Tiffany had been scheming together.
When the housekeepers told me that the rooms had been cleaned up, I immediately ordered my bodyguards, “Throw these strangers out. They’re never allowed near the villa again without my
permission.”
After such a chaotic day, my grandmother was exhausted and decided to rest.
I made my way to the small memorial space in the living room, lighting a candle in memory of my mother. I stood there for a moment, looking at her photo, as if to let her know that I hadn’t forgotten her.
I knew that, in some way, her spirit was still with me, watching over me and guiding me through this second chance at life.
I dreamed of my mother that night. She was as gentle as always, calling my name softly, holding me close as she told me bedtime stories and cooked me delicious meals.
In the end, she kissed my forehead and relieved, saying, “My Charlotte has finally grown up.‘
When I woke up, my pillow was soaked, and my eyes were swollen and red.
The next day, my grandmother held a grand succession ceremony for me, officially making me the head of the Ironclad Group.
After
my father and two brothers left the Montgomery estate, no company dared to accept them, and all their former friends distanced themselves from them. After all, everyone feared crossing the Ironclad Group.
Out of desperation, my two brothers resorted to working at a nightclub, and Tiffany began selling
alcohol.
Later, I got back to running the company, not bothering to follow their plight.
A year later, I was suddenly blacklisted online, and the Ironclad Group began to face public backlash. Our stock price kept plummeting.
Turned out, over the past year, my two brothers and Tiffany had become internet sensations, amassing millions of followers. With their newfound fame, they began streaming live and deliberately slandering me.
My brothers claimed that no one should envy them for being adopted by the wealthiest family. They

had endured a miserable life, actually.
They said my grandmother and my mother had abused them every day, and I would beat them every day simply because I was the heir to the company.
To make their fans ache for them, they even showed the whip scars on their bodies, claiming it was from me. But those scars had been inflicted by my father after he found out they were secretly keeping Tiffany as their mistress.
Thomas Carter, Tiffany’s father, also came forward to testify, claiming he had once been my family’s butler and that my brothers‘ words were the truth.
To make my life harder, my father, William Lane, joined in, slandering me during their live broadcast. He called me an unfilial daughter who had kicked her own father out of the house without a cent to his name.
Suddenly, I was the target of online hatred, and I received threats daily.
Amidst the flood of insults, I immediately started a nationwide livestream.
With my makeup perfectly done, I slowly spoke into the camera,
“I am Charlotte Montgomery, the so–called arrogant, temperamental woman who beat her two
brothers and disowned her father.”
“Anyone who wants to curse me, feel free to do it in the live chat. I won’t ban you, as long as it’s
today!”
