Chapter 8
CHIC
Not long after, countless haters flooded into my company’s live–streaming room, following the link we’d posted online.
The screen was filled with insults and vulgar comments, but I felt nothing. My expression stayed calm as I began to speak.
I pulled out a stack of high–expense bills and asked the viewers, “Do you know where all this money went?”
No one responded in the chat, but I went on.
“Take a good look. These records add up to a total of sixty billion dollars. Every cent of it came from my two brothers‘ credit card spending over the past twenty years they lived under my roof. And that doesn’t even include their daily expenses, like food, clothing, housing, or the countless gifts my
mother and grandmother gave them.”
I smiled faintly. “If our family had really abused them like they claim, would they have had access to this kind of money? Would they have been promoted to senior positions in the Ironclad Group?”
“The truth is, the reason they were kicked out is simple because they were guilty. They betrayed the family and me, the head of the company.
I leaned forward slightly and added, “As for that so–called Thomas Carter, he’s actually the father of the kept woman both my brothers kept. And that mistress, the one you all call your goddess Tiffany, is nothing more than a social climber who used my brothers to get ahead. She never even went to the elite university she claims.”
I paused, then continued, “And yes, it’s true that I cut ties with my father. But what you don’t know is that it was his idea, not mine.”
“I’m not afraid of becoming a joke, so let me show you something.” I played a video on the stream, footage from the Ironclad Group’s centennial gala last year. In it, my father and brothers were cursing and beating me because of Tiffany. It wasn’t the first time, either.
“Tell me,” I said quietly, “what kind of daughter or sister wouldn’t be heartbroken after something
like that?”
I ended my statement with a cold smile. “I’d said my piece. If anyone doubts me, let my father and brothers take me to court for slander.”

“As for you viewers,” I continued, “you were blinded by them, so you turned your hatred toward
- me. I’ll let go of the insults and threats you’ve sent me before. But those who orchestrated this, I
won’t forgive. Expect a lawyer’s letter soon. I’ll see you in court.”
Once I finished speaking, the number of viewers skyrocketed past a hundred million. I quickly
switched gears and began introducing my company’s newest product line.
Taking advantage of the massive traffic that day, I gave the brand a free promotional push.
After the stream ended, I hired a wave of astroturfers to amplify the message.
By the next morning, public opinion had completely flipped. I became the victim turned hero, while my two brothers and Tiffany were the ones everyone despised online.
Their streaming accounts were permanently banned, and no platform would ever allow them to register again. Even when they tried to go live under fake names, facial recognition caught them
instantly, and their streams were taken down immediately.
They had slandered me, and to avoid prison, they spent enormous sums trying to buy influence but
it was useless. They had crossed me, after all.
Meanwhile, the Ironclad Group’s new product became a nationwide hit, selling out every day. The company’s stock value surged back to normal.
Before the court even issued its verdict for their defamation, tragedy struck. Tiffany and Thomas
were murdered by my father and brothers.
Turned out, they had finally discovered Tiffany and her father’s deception, realizing too late that
they’d been used and trapped.
But it was too late for regrets. They had no future left.
So, my two brothers and father, with no hesitation, went as far as to kill Tiffany and Thomas.
In the end, my father and brothers were sentenced to life imprisonment, doomed to spend the rest
of their lives behind bars.
As for me, the Ironclad Group continued to thrive, its profits soaring higher each year.
Two years later, my net worth surpassed even my grandmother’s. I became the nation’s new
richest woman.
That was the beginning of my business era, the era of Charlotte Montgomery.
