Chapter 35 THE BLIND ALPHA
OLIVIA’S POV
The loud cheers outside faded suddenly, as if someone had snapped their fingers and cut the sound like a switch.
I knew it could only be him. Only he could change the chaos into calm with just a snap. I didn’t hear anything further but I knew that it was calm before the storm.
The door to the hospital room opened slowly, deliberately–like a storm cloud rolling in on a clear day. Dominic stepped inside, his presence dark and commanding, every inch of him radiating restrained fury. Behind him, Beta Jason shut the door with a soft click and stood guard outside.
Dominic’s eyes locked onto mine, and for a second, I allowed myself to hope.
Hope that maybe, just maybe, he came because he was worried. Because I was hurt.
Because I mattered to him.
But that illusion shattered the second he opened his mouth.
“What the hell were you thinking, Olivia?” he snapped, his voice sharp and cold. “Why did you go to the hotel? Were you that desperate to defy my orders?”
The words hit harder than any physical blow.
My lips parted in disbelief. That was what he cared about?
Not the fact that I was almost killed?
Not the bruises on my body or the terror of a rogue holding a Luna hostage?
But… that I had ‘defied‘ him?
A sharp pain bloomed in my chest.
“I didn’t go there to defy you,” I said quietly, my voice barely above a whisper. “Lady Grace asked me to. She said Evelyn is inexperienced and needed help planning the summit, and I was still Luna-” My words trailed off as realization settled in.
It had been a trap.
A perfectly laid snare. And I’d walked straight into it, thinking it was a second chance.
Dominic’s jaw flexed as he watched me fall silent. The tension in the room was suffocating.
After a moment, his expression shifted. The anger dimmed, replaced with something more composed but still distant.
“We believe this was the same group from five years ago,” he said stiffly. “The ones who targeted the Phoenix Mark before. They’re organized. Dangerous. Evelyn could’ve been retaken, and you were there again. Coincidence?”
I frowned. “I was almost killed too, Dominic. Does Evelyn even have a single scratch on her body?”
He didn’t seem to hear me.
“You’re lucky Evelyn saved you,” he continued. “You should thank her.”
I blinked, stunned. “What?”
“She protected the other Lunas,” he said, as if reading from a script. “Fought off the attacker.”
“She attacked me!” I snapped, the memory flashing in my mind–Evelyn’s claws slashing across the back of my head.

Dominic’s gaze darkened instantly. “Watch your words, Olivia.”
“She did!” I pushed. “You weren’t there. You didn’t see the way she looked at me, like I was nothing. She struck me on purpose
“Enough!” he roared, and in one swift, terrifying moment, his hand shot out and gripped my throat–not tight, not enough to cut off air, but enough to make a point.
“Do not slander Evelyn again,” he growled, his voice dangerously low. “She saved your life. If she hadn’t acted, you wouldn’t be here. You have no idea what you’re talking about.”
He let go and stepped back, breathing hard.
Tears welled in my eyes, stinging and hot. I didn’t wipe them away.
Let him see.
Let him see what he’d done.
What he was doing.
I stared at him, the pain inside me turning from sorrow to something colder, heavier.
It wasn’t just disappointment anymore.
It was clarity.
He would never see me. Not really.
Not as his Luna.
Not as someone worth defending.
Not even as a woman who had once believed she could love him.
“I hate you,” I whispered.
The words left my mouth before I could second–guess them, laced with every ounce of pain, betrayal, and disillusionment sitting heavy in my chest.
He blinked–just once. A flicker of surprise darted across his expression, maybe even guilt… but it vanished too quickly for me to
trust it was real.
“I never wanted to be your enemy, Dominic,” I said, my voice trembling with a storm I could no longer hold back. “But what else am I supposed to be now? Someone who smiles and nods while you stand there and protect the woman who almost killed your child? Who attacked me and then twisted the truth so perfectly that the world is now cheering her name?”
His jaw clenched, but he didn’t speak. Of course he didn’t.
“You may think she’s some kind of savior, a hero–but I know what she did. I was there, Dominic. I felt her claws. I saw the smug satisfaction on her face before everything went black. She didn’t just want to humiliate me–she wanted me gone. And don’t you see?” I gave a bitter laugh. “She still does. Because this child inside me? It’s a threat to her. A threat to her perfect image. A threat to her claim over you.”
I stepped forward, ignoring the pounding in my head and heart. “She planned all of it. The setup. The attack. The dramatic rescue. And you–you’re too blinded by her smile and your own guilt to see any of it.”
His gaze turned hard, but I pressed on.
“You know what? I thank her,” I hissed. “Because she finally opened my eyes. I can finally see her for what she truly is. But more importantly… I can finally see you.”

His brows furrowed slightly, but he still didn’t move.
“I see a man who refuses to look deeper. A man who chooses ignorance. You want so badly to believe she’s good that you’ve made me the villain. No matter what I do, no matter how hard I try, I’m always the wrong one. You already decided. Evelyn is your light, and I’m just the crazy, jealous woman standing in her way.”
“Don’t say things you’ll regret,” he muttered suddenly, looking away as if my words were slashing through him.
I laughed–cold and hollow. “Regret?” I shook my head, tears finally spilling down my cheeks, not from weakness–but from fury. “I already regret everything, Dominic.”
He turned slightly, shoulders tensing.
would protect “I regret loving you. I regret trusting you. I regret believing, even for a moment, that you would see me. That you me. That you’d fight for me, the way you so easily fight for her. I stood by your side while you were drowning in responsibility, while everyone whispered doubts about you–but when I needed you, you let me fall. Again. And again. And again.”
My voice broke. “And you call me the traitor?”
His hands curled into fists, his back still turned to me.
“You’re not blind, Dominic,” I said softly. “You just don’t want to see. Because seeing the truth would mean accepting that you were wrong. About her. About me. About everything. And God forbid Dominic Blackwood makes a mistake.”
I swallowed the lump in my throat and finally, quietly, said, “You’re not the man I thought you were. And I don’t even think you’re the man you pretend to be.”
His spine stiffened, but he didn’t turn around.
“Get out,” I said, my voice sharp as glass.
He didn’t move.
“Get. Out.” I snapped, screaming now, voice echoing off the sterile hospital walls.
He turned to look at me.
“For the last time I am saying this, get out!” I screamed, my voice breaking.
And then it hit me.
A sharp, splitting pain tore through my skull. I cried out and clutched my head, my vision blurring with another wave of dizziness. The machines beeped wildly.
Dominic rushed forward. “Olivia-!”
But I pushed him away with what little strength I had left. “Don’t touch me!”
My breathing came in short, shallow bursts. Nurses flooded in, pushing Dominic back as the world tilted and turned gray again.
Before everything faded, I caught one last glimpse of his face.
There was fear there now.
But it was too late.
