My aunt Ch 6

Chapter 6

I fixed my gaze on Aubrie, my tone calm and measured as I asked, “Miss Wadsley, are you aware of the consequences of blackmailing a public official? Especially someone of my rank?”

Aubrie froze for a moment, then let out a mocking laugh. Any trace of panic she might have shown earlier disappeared the moment she turned her head toward Leo.

“Mr. Tanke, did you hear that? She’s really playing the part now, acting like she’s someone important!”

But Leo’s face had already paled, though he still held on to his composure, glaring at me coldly. “Gloria, stop bluffing. Aubrie is with me. Go ahead, try touching her.”

Seeing the two of them remain defiant, I decided there was no point in wasting more words. Silently, I pulled out my phone and transferred five hundred thousand dollars to Aubrie.

The notification of the completed transaction chimed.

Aubrie glanced down at her phone, momentarily stunned, before smugly holding up the screen. “Oh? You really sent it? Guess you know how to act smart!”

The corners of my lips curved slightly as I responded in a detached tone, “Good. Now the crime is official.”

No sooner had I finished speaking than a heavy, synchronized rhythm of footsteps echoed through the air. The sound grew louder, drawing everyone’s attention.

A group of over a dozen soldiers in combat uniforms, fully armed, marched into the terminal with a commanding presence that seemed to freeze the air in the waiting hall.

“Are those… Special Forces?!” a passenger exclaimed, recognizing them.

“My goodness, isn’t that Tony Willison? And look at the insignia on his epaulettes… that’s from the Supreme Command!”

“What on earth would someone of his rank be doing here?!”

The crowd buzzed with speculation, but Tony’s sharp gaze swept across the room and locked onto me. Without hesitation, he strode forward, stopping before me and snapping to attention with a salute.

“Captain Redwood, leadership was informed you encountered some trouble here. They sent me and my team to handle it.”

The murmurs in the crowd grew louder. Everyone was in awe, whispering about who I could possibly be to warrant such deference from someone as high-ranking as Captain Willison of the Supreme Command.

Leo, too, had realized the gravity of the situation. His face turned ashen as his fists clenched tightly at his sides.

I casually tilted my chin in Aubrie’s direction. “Nothing too serious. She just blackmailed me for half a million dollars.”

The moment I spoke, every pair of eyes in the squad shifted to Aubrie. Tony’s expression grew dark.

“You’ve got some nerve, blackmailing Captain Redwood,” Tony said, his voice cold and cutting.

Aubrie’s previously smug demeanor dissolved instantly. She involuntarily took half a step back, her voice trembling. “W-What are you going to do?!”

Tony’s gaze turned icy as he signaled with a flick of his hand. “Take her.”

Two soldiers stepped forward and seized Aubrie by the arms, one on each side.

Panic overtook her, and she began to struggle violently. “Let me go! Mr. Tanke! Mr. Tanke, help me!!”

Tony let out a derisive snort, his tone laced with menace. “Help you? Here’s a lesson for you—Captain Redwood is not someone you can mess with.”

With that, he gestured sharply, and Aubrie was dragged away. Her terrified screams echoed down the corridor until they faded into silence.
