Chapter 1034
Shaun stood under the shower, water beating down on his shoulders and rolling off the muscles on his back. That was when he heard a knock at the door.
“Halsey?” he called out.
Outside, Sierra’s heart skipped. She heard him say Halsey’s name, but stayed quiet. If she spoke, it’d ruin everything. She needed Shaun to think it really was Halsey.
Shaun didn’t suspect anything. This was his bedroom with Halsey, after all. He didn’t even know Halsey had brought Sierra here.
“Come in,” he said.
Sierra’s lips curled into a smile she could barely hold back. She grabbed the doorknob and stepped inside.
The room was filled with the clean, steamy scent of soap and water. Shaun was behind the frosted glass, rinsing off.
Thinking Halsey had come in, he turned toward the door. “Halsey-”
He paused sharply. He couldn’t see clearly through the glass, but his gut told him this wasn’t her.
Sierra’s heart raced. She tilted her chin, eager to catch a glimpse of the man everyone called the rising star of the business world.
But the second she lifted her head, a shampoo bottle flew straight at her.
“Who the hell are you? Get out!” Shaun’s voice was ice, rough with anger.
Smack!
The bottle hit Sierra right on the head. Pain exploded through her skull, and warm blood trickled down her face.
She lifted a shaky hand. Red smeared across her palm.
He had cut her open!
“Ahhh!” Sierra screamed, the sound ripping through the house.
Shaun yanked on his robe and stormed out of the shower. His face went as dark as stone when he saw Sierra.
“What are you doing in here? Who told you to come in? Somebody!”
Downstairs, Halsey was sketching while Jocelyn handed her a glass of warm milk.

“Have some milk,” Jocelyn said.
But before Halsey could answer, Sierra’s scream rang out from upstairs. Halsey froze, head snapping up toward the ceiling.
Jocelyn’s face drained. “That sounded like Ms. Fletcher! And it didn’t come from the guest room… It came from the main bedroom!”
A cold smile flickered in Halsey’s eyes. Sierra wasn’t even trying to hide it anymore.
Then, Shaun’s furious voice echoed through the halls. “Somebody!”
Even downstairs, his rage was clear.
“Oh, no!” Jocelyn said quickly. “It sounds like something happened with Mr. Lane and Ms. Fletcher. We
have to go check!”
Halsey set down her pencil. “Let’s go.”
Jocelyn hurried to steady her. “Slow down. Don’t trip! I told you Ms. Fletcher moving in would cause trouble, but I didn’t think it’d blow up this fast.”
Halsey’s lips curved again, sharp and cold. Sierra really was desperate.
By the time they reached the bedroom, Shaun was standing there, his jaw tight and his face stormy. His whole posture radiated fury.
“What happened, Mr. Lane?” Jocelyn asked, panicked.
“What’s wrong?” Halsey added.
Shaun’s voice burned low and furious. “Why the hell is she here?”
Halsey’s eyes
slid to the bathroom. Sierra was on the floor, blood streaking down her face, looking broken
and pitiful.
