Chapter 1049
Shaun and Halsey left, and the other students began to scatter.
Sierra was left completely flustered. She tried to stop someone and explain, “Wait, hear me out! It’s not what
you think…”
But the students immediately brushed her off. “You don’t need to explain. We’ve got stuff to do, so we’re
leaving.”
No one wanted to listen. Everyone walked away, leaving Sierra behind.
She was furious. Her hands balled into fists at her sides, her teeth gritting with anger.
Zada lingered nearby, and Sierra quickly grabbed her sleeve. “Don’t you think Halsey and Mr. Lane really hate
me? Why else would they humiliate me like that?”
Zada looked at Sierra carefully, then asked, “That night, you didn’t really go into Mr. Lane’s room on purpose, right?”
Sierra’s heart sank. Even Zada was starting to doubt her.
“What do you mean? Are you doubting me, too? Do you really think I’m that kind of person?”
Zada frowned. “I…”
Sierra cut her off. “Since even you doubt me, I’m leaving. I know my family’s poor, and you all look down on me
from the start. Fine, I’ll go. Maybe I’m better off dead!”
She turned to run.
But Zada grabbed her arm. “Don’t get upset. I didn’t mean it like that. I believe you.”
Tears welled up in Sierra’s eyes. “Really? You believe me?”
Zada gently wiped her tears. “You saved me that night. You’re so kind, there’s no way you’d want someone else’s fiancé. I trust you.”
Sierra flung herself into Zada’s arms. “You’re the only one who believes me now. You’re the only one I have
left!”
Zada patted her back softly. “I’ll always be your friend. Now cheer up a little.”

A dangerous glint flashed in Sierra’s eyes. She wasn’t done–she wasn’t going to let Halsey get away with this!
Halsey and Shaun walked through the campus, hand in hand. Since they had publicly announced their relationship, they could finally do this.
It was their first time casually strolling the campus like this, fingers entwined.
Halsey smiled. “Why didn’t you tell me you were coming to the campus today?”
Shaun shot back, “And why didn’t you tell me what happened at the cafeteria earlier?”
“You knew?” Halsey asked, surprised.
Shaun nodded. “Sierra’s trouble. Stay away from her from now on.”
Halsey leaned closer, tilting her face toward him. “So you came all the way here just to have my back?”
Shaun gently pinched her cheek. “You’re my fiancée. If I don’t protect you, who will? No one’s gonna pick on you or our baby with me around.”
Halsey felt a rush of happiness. “Thank you.”
Shaun pulled her into a hug. “I might be home late tonight. Don’t wait up.”
“You have dinner with clients?” Halsey asked.
He nodded. “Yeah, it’s a big client. I’ll try to come back as soon as I can.”
“Okay. By the way, any news on what happened to Zada?” Halsey inquired.
Shaun shook his head. “We’ve got leads. Should be sorted soon.”
Halsey nodded. “Good.”
After a little more affectionate teasing, they finally parted ways. Shaun headed to work, and Halsey returned to her studies.
