Sierra laughed. “You probably haven’t seen the news yet. I suggest you check it out!”
Halsey furrowed her brow. “Haven’t you learned your lesson from the past? Do all the bad things you want, and karma will catch up to you!”
Sierra didn’t care. “I don’t know what karma is. All I know is I’m not willing to give up. I’m not going to let you have it easy!”
Then came two quick beeps. Sierra had hung up.
Halsey stared at her phone and started scrolling through the news. She wanted to see what trouble Sierra had stirred up this time.
But she didn’t really need to, as today’s headlines screamed, “Rising Business Star Shaun Lane Caught in Scandal!”
Halsey clicked on the story. Seeing Sierra’s face, she immediately understood what had happened last night.
Shaun and Sierra had been at the same private club. Sierra had cried, accusing Shaun of trying to assault her. The story had already dominated every news outlet.
Halsey’s brow furrowed deeply. She hadn’t realized things had blown up this badly.
She immediately dialed Shaun’s number.
Shaun was still in the office. He answered quickly. “Hey, honey. You’re up?”
Halsey felt a little relief hearing his voice. “Yeah, I’m up. Just having breakfast. Have you eaten?”
Shaun hadn’t told her about the incident, so she didn’t press.
“I just ate,” Shaun replied.
Halsey asked, “So you’re at work now?”
“Yeah. I’ve got an important meeting soon, so I can’t talk for long.”
Halsey smiled. “I don’t need you to. Go take care of business.”
After the call ended, Halsey put down her phone to finish breakfast. Now that she was pregnant, she made sure to eat well.
After finishing, she got up, and Jocelyn quickly approached. “Are you heading to campus?”
Halsey shook her head. “No, not today.”
Jocelyn blinked. “Not today? Then where are you going?”
Halsey smiled. “I’m going to see Shaun.”
Jocelyn grinned. “I’ll come with you.”

Halsey nodded. “Okay, let’s go.”
Half an hour later, Halsey and Jocelyn arrived at the Lane Corporation building.
Jocelyn said gently, “Take it easy. Let’s go in.”

As they walked in, the receptionist immediately recognized Halsey. “Mrs. Lane, what a surprise! What brings you here?”
Halsey’s voice was calm. “I came to see Shaun.”
The receptionist looked a little flustered as she remembered that Shaun’s scandal was making the rounds. She pulled out her phone. “I’ll call Mr. Lane first. He’d be thrilled to know you’re here.”
Halsey waved her off. “No need. I’ll go up and see him myself.”
The receptionist tried to block her, looking unsure. “Mrs. Lane…”
Halsey reassured her, “Don’t worry. It’s just a quick visit. Nothing to worry about.”
The receptionist stepped aside. Jocelyn pressed the elevator button. “After you, Mrs. Lane.”
Halsey and Jocelyn rode the elevator straight up to the CEO’s office. At the door, they ran into Martin.
Martin froze. “Mrs. Lane? What are you doing here?”
Halsey looked him straight in the eye. “The receptionist downstairs asked me the same thing. Is it really a big deal that I came to the company? I just came to see Shaun.”
