Zada agreed to take Sierra to the hospital.
Sierra immediately smiled. “Thanks, you’re the best! The three of us will always be best friends!”

“If you really wanna be friends with Halsey again, you should clear things up with the reporters about you and Mr. Lane,” Zada said.
Sierra fell silent. Not this again.
Zada went on, “Why not do it tomorrow? Go to the press tomorrow and set the record straight. Then Halsey and Mr. Lane can make up.”
Sierra was annoyed with Zada, but she played along. Once Zada’s soup got Halsey, and Zada ended up in jail, Sierra would end their friendship.
“Okay,” Sierra said with a smile. “I’ll clear it up with the reporters tomorrow.”
Zada returned the smile. “Great. On behalf of Halsey, thank you.”
“No need to thank me. Nothing ever happened between me and Mr. Lane, anyway.”
“Alright, let’s go to the hospital.”
When they got to the hospital. Zada said to Sierra, “Wait outside the room. I’ll go in myself.”
Sierra nodded and watched Zada carry the thermos of chicken soup. “Okay, I’ll wait here. Make sure she drinks it while it’s hot.”
Zada nodded and went into the room.
Sierra stood at the doorway and peered inside.
Halsey sat on the hospital bed in a patient gown. Zada greeted her when she went in. “Hey, Halsey.”
Halsey looked up. “Oh, you’re back already? That was fast.”
Zada answered, “Yeah. I made you some chicken soup. I was worried you and the baby might be hungry.”
She opened the thermos. “Here, smell it. Doesn’t it smell good?”
Halsey nodded. “It smells great.”
Zada brought a small bowl and spoon, ladled out a portion, and held the spoon up to Halsey’s lips. “Drink it
while it’s hot.”
Sierra’s heart pounded. She stared at the spoon and felt her pulse in her throat. If Halsey drank it, she’d be done for–no doubt about it!
Sierra chanted in her heart for Halsey to hurry up and drink the soup.

Halsey lowered her head to take a sip, but before she did, she looked up with a frown. “Actually, I’m not hungry.”
She refused to drink.
Sierra was speechless. She had no idea why Halsey wasn’t cooperating–it felt like Halsey was toying with her.
“Why don’t you wanna drink it?” Zada asked.
“I just don’t have the appetite. Just put it there. I’ll drink it when I feel like it.”
Zada looked at Halsey sternly. “No. You haven’t eaten all day. Even if you don’t feel like it, the baby needs nutrition. Just drink a little, for the baby’s sake.”
Halsey stayed quiet.
Sierra wanted to rush in, pry open Halsey’s mouth, and force the poisoned soup down, but she knew she couldn’t. All she could do was hope Zada could persuade her.
Zada tried again. “I made this to help you recover. It’s good for you. You should drink it while it’s hot.”
She placed a spoonful of soap near Halsey’s mouth. “Here. I’ll feed you. Drink it, please.”
