Ivy went quiet. She definitely hadn’t done it on purpose.
But she couldn’t say that now. She knew exactly why she was here. She was supposed to win Nathan over.
She looked at his sharp, handsome face. “Yup, I did it on purpose. So what? You’re my husband. If I want to sit on your lap, I’m going to sit on your lap.”
Nathan’s lips curved. “Yesterday, I said you weren’t very affectionate during the day, and now you show up like this?”
“Of course. I’ve taken your feedback into account, and I’m making improvements, Couples have to learn from each other, be patient, and be understanding. That’s how we last.”
Nathan studied her well–behaved expression. He lifted an eyebrow but said nothing.
Ivy said, “The soup’s going to get cold. Drink it while it’s hot.”
She poured a bowl of chicken soup, lifted the spoon, and held it to his mouth. “Open wide, honey.”
Nathan looked at her. “You didn’t poison it, right?”
Ivy froze. Was he treating himself like some tragic hero and her like the villain?
She took a sip from the spoon herself. “There. Satisfied?”
Then she offered the same spoon back to him.
Nathan glanced at it.
Ivy realized immediately what the problem was. He came from a wealthy family. Men like him usually had at least a touch of germ–avoidance.
She hurried to fix it. “I’ll get a new spoon.”
But Nathan caught her wrist. “No need.”
He leaned in and took a sip from the spoon she had just used.
Ivy stared, surprised. She hadn’t expected him to share a spoon with her.
Nathan looked at her calmly. “Why are you staring? We’ve done plenty of things a whole lot more intimate than sharing a spoon.”
Ivy had no comeback. He wasn’t wrong.
“Do you like the soup?” she asked.
Nathan said, “You brought it to me yourself. Of course, I like it.”

“Did I interrupt your work?”
“No.” Nathan looked at her. “Are you not going to work today?”
“I’m taking the day off. I’m spending the whole day with you. You won’t be annoyed, right?”
He said he wanted more affection during the day so she was going to stick to him until he was sick of it.
Nathan answered, “I won’t.”
“Really? Then I want you to spend the day with me. Let’s go shopping and watch a movie. You’re buying me flowers and presents.”
Nathan looked at the stack of documents on his desk. “I have paperwork to finish. And I have another meeting-”
“I don’t care,” Ivy cut him off immediately. “You’re spending today with me. I’m not letting you work!”
Inside, she was thrilled. This would annoy him for sure.
All she needed was for him to tell her to get lost. She would happily leave. Keeping things limited to nighttime was perfect.
Before Nathan could answer, there was a knock at the door. Martin’s voice came from outside. “Mr. Lowe.”
Nathan said quickly, “Martin’s here. Stand up.”
“Fine.” Ivy rose from his lap.
“Come in,” Nathan called out.
Martin stepped inside and placed a folder on Nathan’s desk. “This document needs your signature.”
Nathan picked up his pen and signed.
Ivy glanced around the office and noticed a bookshelf filled with books.
She slipped off her black coat and walked over. She picked up a design book, flipping through it quietly.
