Chapter 1164
“I’m not,” Ivy said.
Nathan’s eyes narrowed. “What, you think I’m going to eat you?”
Ivy paused before saying, “No.”
A crooked smile tugged at his mouth. “That’d better be true. If anything, you were the one who always came after me. When did I ever go after you?”
The teasing edge in his voice made her lashes tremble.
He reached out and pinched her cheek lightly.
“What’s this now? Acting like you don’t know me?” His fingertips brushed slowly across her skin. “Or are you playing innocent? Trying that push and pull thing on me?”
The heat on Ivy’s face spread all the way to her ears. “I know you’re still mad.”
He gave a short, humorless laugh. “I was starting to think you didn’t.”
“I do.”
“If you know I’m mad, then what exactly have you done about it?”
“I’ve stayed out of your way. I keep my distance. I try not to show up where you are. Isn’t that enough?” Ivy said.
For a second, he had no response.
She studied his dark expression. “If that’s still not enough, I can move out.”
The second the words left her mouth, his fingers tightened on her cheek. “Ivy, are you trying to make me angry on purpose?”
“I’m not. Actually, I prepared something for you.”
“What?”
Nathan released her.
She pulled a document from her bag and handed it to him. “Take a look.”
Nathan flipped it open. The title stared back at him in bold letters.
Divorce Agreement.
His eyes went cold. “What’s this supposed to mean?”
“We were always a business marriage,” Ivy said quietly. “I know you never had feelings for me. I wanted a child, so I lied to you. Now, you know the truth. You’re angry. So let’s just end it.”
“End it?” He let out a low laugh. “You want a divorce?”
“Yes.”
He scanned the pages she had drafted. “The child goes with you. You’re not asking for a single dollar?”
“You don’t even like children. I’ll raise the baby myself. I’ll make sure the baby grows up safe and healthy. As for

money, we’ve always kept our finances separate. I don’t want anything from you.” She paused. “But I do have one condition.”
“What condition?”
“If we divorce, the news can’t go public for one year.”
“Why?” His voice turned sharp. “You still need the title of Mrs. Lowe to

want?”
“Yes.” She met his eyes. “Can you agree to that?”
He looked at her like the air had frozen solid. “Who said you get to decide this?”
She blinked at the sudden shift in his tone. “I…”
He cut her off.
“You’ve always been the one pushing things between us. When you wanted a baby, you came after me. You said whatever you had to say to get me into bed. You told me you loved me. Now, you got what you wanted, and you’re the one bringing up divorce. Did you ever think to ask what I want?”
“I am asking you now,” she said steadily. “What do you want?”
Without another word, Nathan tore the papers in half. Then again. And again.
She stared at the shredded pieces in his hand. “Why did you rip it up?”
He looked at her, jaw tight. “Listen carefully. I’m not agreeing to a divorce.”
